Bubble bubble toil and trouble! 🔮🪄🧙🏼‍♀️
Today in Little Explorers we have been doing something spooky., making witches brew! Some lovely language could be heard from the children "I have got a magic wand at home" a child said to their friend. We made up some spooky spells and sprinkled some glitter magic onto it. The children used sticks, spoons, and whisks to mix up the potion. What fun we had, well done 😄

Mini adventures explore in the rain 🌧️

The children ran to the window as it began to rain, watching fall to the floor. One child made their way over to the home corner and got one of the dressing up coats pointing to themselves then to outside. So following the children's interests we went to explore outside!

One child pointed to the sky, as they had seen a rainbow 🌈 they became exited by jumping up and down getting member of staff attention. So we then talked about all the colours we could see.

One child placed both arms out and hands facing up, as they felt the water hit off their hands then look at the water they had caught. After the rain had passed the children then went off and began to explore the outdoor environment using the spoons to dig in the sand and mud.

Pushing the cars around the garden up the ramp and down again and playing with the dinosaurs.

Autumn Soup🍂🍁🌰🍲🥄
This morning our Big Inventors and Clever Thinkers have been making some autumn Soup in our tuff tray. We started off the morning by going on a hunt in the garden for some ingredients for our soup with Erin and Elise. One child said "I found a huge leaf, this will be lovely in my soup". Another child followed with "I found a tiny little one". One child also kindly brought in some conkers that they had collected at home with their family, and asked if we could use them to make some autumn soup!
We came back upstairs after collecting our leaves and poured them into the tuff tray. The children helped stir some paint into the water to make it orange, the perfect colour for our soup. One child told staff "my favourite colour is orange, the same as a pumpkin".
We prepared the tuff tray with different pots and pans, along with spoons, orange water, leaves and conkers to begin making our soup. The children used their fine and gross motor skills to pick up the conkers and leaves to put into their soup, and to scoop the water up with the spoons. One child said "my soup will taste meaty" whilst another child said " it smells funny, I bet it doesn't taste nice". Well done Big Inventors and Clever Thinkers! ☺️

Today is October 1st and our Little Explorers have already began our spooky activities for Halloween🎃. We spent the morning making our very own pumpkins using different painting techniques to decorate them. By using a mixture of colours and tools such as brushes, sponges, cotton buds and leaves to print, our children were able to make some super spooky pumpkins. Our Little Explorers used lots of language and spoke lots about the different colours we were using. "I'm dabbing my paint, dab dab dab!" One child said. "I want a yellow pumpkin" said another child. We can't wait to make these into spooky decorations for our room. Great Work Everyone🎃👻🍂🕷️

Following the spooky activities this afternoon and following the children's engagement and enjoyment painting. We went even messier this afternoon. The activity was all about printing using apples to create spiders. The children loved getting their hands messy and loved painting with different materials. "Apple?" One child said. Yes an apple can be used to create art isn't that exciting. "Look a spider!" Another child shouted. The children loved having a day full of painting and getting as messy as they like. Well done everyone I love all your art work you've created.🎃👻🍂🕷️

Autumn Handprints🍂🎨

As we welcome October tomorrow our Little Explorers have made a beautiful Autumn wreath out of their handprints! The little explorers helped me mix the paints creating some lovely Autumn colours! One child shouted "it's brown!" as they mixed the green and orange paint together 😀 once we mixed the paints, the children used their independence skills to roll up their sleeves and then used the paintbrushes to paint their hands in different colours! It was lovely to see them holding the paintbrushes all by themselves! We then stamped our hand on the paper to create our beautiful handprint! Once we had finished this the children washed their hands in the sink and used the towels to dry them off! Our Little Explorers have been so independent in this morning's activity, great work everyone!👏🏼

Autumn apple painting🍏🍎🍁🍂
Today the children in mini adventures have had fun making their own autumn pictures using apples and different coloured paint. The children expressed their fine motor skills as they used their fingers and hands to pick up the stick to hold the apple. Staff spoke to the children about what colours we were using. The children used different methods of stamping and moving the apples on the paper. We created some wonderful artwork. Well done everyone! 😄

A fun filled day in Little Explorers 😁
Today the Little Explorers have taken part in lots of exciting activities. To start off the day the children took part in a sensory experience where they explored the covered up paint. The children were able to describe the texture and label all the colours they could see.
Following on we then began to create some different faces. The children discussed the faces and held conversations surrounding why we may feel different ways.
One child said going in the garden made them happy so off we went to explore the garden. We began building different car ramps and the children used turn taking skills to push the cars down the ramp.
We have also been very busy using our fine motor skills to place the coloured pasta onto the lines cheering as we were successful. We also used our amazing fine motor skills to take part in some large scale painting, the children showed lots of pride over their art work. Well done everyone 🎨🖌️😀👏🏼

🍂🟠Autumn in mini's 🟠🍂

Today in mini adventures we having been exploring our autumnal tuff tray , in it we have different coloured rice red and yellow which the children got to explore by using their hands to touch, the children also got to use other resources like spoons to further practice their scooping skills helping them with their fine motor skills but also their managing self care skills, they had bowls which they could pour the rice into as well. The children got to hear a range of language in this activity such as the name of the colours we could see and the names of the autumnal objects like the leaves and pinecones. Within the rice the children could also make marks within the tray using their hands but also the paint brushes, the children have free access to where they could bring them over if they wanted to. 🖌️

To follow the children's interests of the small world area we made a road across the floor which the children could bring the cars to, the children used their fine motor skills to gasp and hold the cars but also their gross motor skills to move around the floor "car" a child said holding a car out, the children enjoyed extending the small world area and engaged in using the cars along the road. 🚗

Well done Mini's you did a good job engaging in the range of activities today 😀

What an action packed day full of feeding colour monsters and mosaic art in Little Explorers!! 😆🎨

Happy Monday everyone! This morning we had so much fun feeding the very hungry colour monsters their yummy snacks 😄. Each monster had their own coloured snacks, and the children were encouraged to carefully pick out the corresponding coloured snacks to the same colour monster with their tweezers. One of the monsters had a strict diet of glitter, as he was feeling fearful and needed lots of sparkles to cheer him up 😁. The children helped him feel better by using a spoon to feed him his special glitter to make him nice and full! The children did amazing with this activity and really showed off their brilliant fine motor skills as they picked out the monsters snacks and transported them to the monsters with the tweezers. They were also chatting lots amongst each other saying things like "the monster's feeling hungry" and "I'm feeding this monster glitter!" Well done everybody! 👏🏼
Then this afternoon, we made some mosaic art using pasta and play dough. This morning, children helped to paint the pasta sheets and then we left them to dry. This afternoon, some children helped to break the pasta sheets and put them into the bowls. The children were very excited to get started. They sat at the table and waited for their turn of the play dough. They then rolled out their play dough and pressed the pasta down with their hand into the pasta. Some children pointed out the different shapes it made when they lifted it back up. Some of the children enjoyed the breaking of the pasta as they pressed it down. The children were able to recognise the colours of the pasta and recognised that the pasta changed the colour of the play dough. Well done Little Explorers! 😊

My hand at this age🤲🍂

Today Big Inventors and Clever Thinkers worked on something special for their parents and carers. We talked about the season we are in and what colour we can see outside now. When we looked at the trees , " the leaves are orange now" one child said. " It's getting colder" another said.
As we worked with the season some of the children started saying " I am going to be 4 soon", " I am three" another child said. One of the staff members asked " can you show it on your fingers?" and they started showing three or four fingers. We talked about how many fingers we have on one hand, one child started counting " one, two, three, four, five" than we asked if they can say how many fingers we have with both hands, " ten " said the children. We proceeded to make marks on the paper using paint and our hands.
