St Oswald's Nursery and Sunshine Club St Oswald's Nursery provides early years education from age 2 and the Sunshine Club provides wraparound care for St Oswald’s School.

St Oswald's Nursery and Sunshine Club is based within St Oswald's CE Aided Primary and Nursery School and provides high-quality education and childcare provision for children aged 3 - 11 years old. Our nursery provides education and care between 9am and 3pm for 3-4 year olds. Our Sunshine Club provides breakfast club from 7.45am and after-school club until 6pm for children attending St Oswald's School or Nursery. School holiday provision is also available.

☀️ Welcome back to nursery! ☀️

We have had such a lovely couple of weeks back at nursery, and have loved hearing all about your fantastic summers! A big, warm welcome to all of our new starters, we are so excited to start this new chapter with you!😊. We are all going to have so much fun, and can’t wait to watch you all grow and develop over the next year at St Oswalds nursery 💛.

Here are some of the activities we have been doing over the last week;

🌈 Last Day Of Nursery 🌈

We all have had such a fantastic last week of nursery, full of joy, fun and laughter! Yesterday the children enjoyed the morning playing with their friends, then in the afternoon as a special treat, the ice cream man came to give us some yummy treats!🍦.

We then sat down and had a teddy bears picnic with some of our fluffy friends. Mrs Sinclair read us a story, and then we had some teddy bear sandwiches with pom bear crisps and juice. We ended the day at the park making some final memories with our friends 🛝.

All the staff at nursery would like to wish everyone a very happy summer break, and a huge good luck to all the children who have graduated from our nursery and moving onto the next, new exciting chapter in September as they enter reception class! You are all so special and all the teachers will miss you all so very much, you have brought us all so much joy and we are very honoured to have been a part of your journey. Have a fantastic summer and keep shining!☀️💛.

We are growing lots of delicious fruit and vegetables in our nursery garden including strawberries, raspberries, carrots, peas, courgettes, broccoli, chives and potatoes 🥔.

A few weeks ago the boys and girls participated in picking the potatoes from the soil, washed them, cut them up, cut up some chives we picked and added them onto the potatoes to make them extra yummy! We then put them in the oven and enjoyed them for snack. The children thoroughly enjoyed them! 🤩.

This is a fantastic experience for the children to grow, prepare and enjoy their very own vegetables, engaging in and understanding the process of how we grow our food, watching them grow from a little seed to ending up on our plates 🌱🍽️.

This morning we were all so lucky to have the opportunity to go out onto church street to cheer on football legend, Jill Scott, as she ran past our school!

Jill has took part in running, cycling and walking from London to Sunderland to raise money for Sports Relief ⚽️.

Last Wednesday we were very lucky to have a police officer visit our nursery with her dog, Ben! The police officer told us lots of important information including who we have to call in an emergency, stranger danger and who to go to if you need help. We also talked about the different vehicles used in emergencies such as police cars, motor bikes and helicopters 🚔🚁.

The boys and girls thoroughly enjoyed this memorable experience and even got to stroke Ben the dog and try on some of the uniform, including a police jacket, helmet and hat 👮🏽🚨.

We have had such a fun filled, busy few weeks in nursery! 🤩.

We have been learning all about Pablo Picasso and his abstract artwork, inspiring us to make our very own creations! 🖼️.

Throughout the week we have also been looking at the lifecycle of a sunflower, and planted our very own to take home with us and watch as they bloom over the summer 🌻.

Some other fun activities have included;
🎨 Painting and drawing sunflowers
🫧 Bubble painting
🌸 Blossom tree finger print art
🖍️ Tracing the letters of our name using different colours
🍎 Organising healthy and unhealthy foods
🥣 Making chive dip using the chives from our nursery garden
🥭 Taste testing unusual fruits we may have never tried before
& many more!

In the Easter half term the boys and girls had lots of fun in holiday club, some activities included;

🧁 Baking hot cross buns
🍫 Playing with chocolate gloop
🌷 Crafting egg box flowers
🥚 Painting boiled eggs
🪴 Gardening
✂️ Easter egg collages
🍪 Making rice crispy cakes with cream eggs
