In the Durham School archives, there are wonderfully formal letters from Old Dunelmians, carefully updating the school on university results and future plans.

These days social media offers a very different kind of window on the lives of young Old Dunelmians and over the past few weeks, it has been a real pleasure to see so many of you posting about exam results, degree completions, first jobs and new adventures. Even better has been watching you cheer each other on and stay connected.

It is genuinely heartening to see, and we send our very best wishes to you all as you take your next steps.

Ironman Hamburg July 28th

On the 28th of July I am doing an Ironman. The distances are as follows; Swim 3,800m (2.4 miles). Bike 180km (112 miles). Run - marathon. I am hoping to complete the challenge in between 12 and 13 hours.

I am doing it in memory of one of my best friends who died last year. I am raising money for the Langley Foundation, the Durham School Bursary Fund that enables access to the school to students who might otherwise not be able to afford it.

Durham University have invited any members of our Sixth Form to attend their summer lecture series. It begins with David Moyes, former Sunderland, Manchester United and Everton manager doing an address on Monday 29 April at 8pm in the debating chamber on Palace Green.
