Shotton Primary School

As part of My Money Week, Year 5/6 welcomed Gary from Birmingham City Council to our school. He spoke to us about loan sharks and helped us understand the dangers of borrowing money from illegal lenders. We learned how to spot the warning signs of a loan shark, where to get help and advice, and the importance of making safe financial choices. It was an interesting and informative session that helped us become more aware of how to manage money responsibly.

We’re delighted to share that Year 3/4 children have had a fantastic time on their recent trip, taking part in a range of exciting cricket-based activities! 🏏
Throughout the day, they showed great enthusiasm, teamwork, and sportsmanship while developing their cricket skills. From batting and bowling to fun team games, every child had the chance to get involved and build their confidence.
It’s been wonderful to see so many smiling faces, positive attitudes, and a willingness to try something new. We are very proud of how the children in Year 3 and 4 represented our school.

Friday 19th June Non-Uniform Day

Year 4 have been busy learning all about budgeting and why it’s such an important life skill! This week, they explored how we use money in everyday life by taking part in a fun supermarket activity. The children worked out how to buy the ingredients they needed to create meals, making careful choices to stay within their budget. They showed great teamwork, problem-solving and even compared prices to get the best value! They also played a fast-paced racing game where they had to manage their money wisely to reach their goal.

The children have worked with real money this morning to find the total amount of sponsorship money raised by the Colour Run on Friday. The children have thoroughly enjoyed the lesson and carefully calculated the total of £439.05!

Y5/6PC had a fantastic time taking part in the Colour Run! The children showed great enthusiasm, teamwork and determination as they ran through clouds of vibrant colour. Everyone had lots of fun, and there were plenty of smiles (and colourful faces!) by the end. Well done, Y5/6PC!
