Today, the Preschool and Butterfly children spent all morning outside in the sunshine! 🌞🌞
The children enjoyed using their gross motor skills to challenge themselves with climbing and then jumping off the climbing frame! 💪
They enjoyed exploring the sand and water trays, to fill, empty and transport, and some boys and girls used the water to water the flowers! 💧🌷

Bubble tube fun Part 2!

Fun with bubbles!
The Butterfly Room has really enjoyed exploring an exciting new bubble tube this morning! 🫧🤩
The Learning Library based in Spennymoor have been kind enough to loan us this fantastic piece of equipment for a few weeks!
The children were so excited to talk about the colours, counting the balls inside and watching the bubbles move around the tube!

An icy morning at Woodlands! ❄️
Yesterday, the Butterfly Room children discovered some ice outside whilst playing in the construction area!
The children loved exploring how the ice felt, how cold it was, and learning how the cold weather turns water into ice!
Hayden told us "It's very cold, I'm writing my full name! as he used his finger to make marks on the ice!
Rowan enjoyed touching the ice with his fingers - "Brrrr" 🥶- It was so cold!
The children used some lovely descriptive language such as "slippy", "icy", "cold" whilst they touched the ice!❄️🥶

Pancake Day in the Butterfly Room! 🥞
Yesterday we enjoyed some delicious pancakes with different toppings!
Lyla told me her "pancakes and syrup" were "delicious!" whilst Freya told me "It's lovely!" 😋
Hayden told his friends "It's pancake day" and that his pancake "tastes like strawberry!" 🍓
Jessie, Tanaya, Sophie, Charlotte and Rowan enjoyed strawberry sauce and sprinkles with their pancake!
We all had very sticky hands and faces afterwards! 😄

Pancake Day!
The children in Pre-school celebrated pancake day and were able to choose which topping they wanted on top of their pancake! We had chocolate spread, golden syrup, and some strawberries and blueberries.
The children used lots of words to describe their pancakes;
Lewis told Steph that his pancake was delicious and gave the pancakes a thumbs up!
Ella said her pancake was sticky and yummy!
Katie said she could eat them everyday!
Early Years Practitioner - Supply
Woodlands Day Nursery is a private day nursery situated in Meadowfield, Durham. We cater for children 0-12 years and we are currently looking to appoint a friendly, highly motivated and passionate Supply Early Years Practitioner to our team.
Hours
The hours for this post will be as and when required by the nursery. Working hours will be between the hours of 7.30-6.30pm on a flexible rota system. This post is a permanent contract.
Key duties and responsibilities will include:
Planning and leading age and stage appropriate activities and learning experiences for children to the highest standard
Ensuring a safe, secure and caring environment is maintained at all times
Creating enabling environments that are enhanced as and when required to ensure children remain inspired and engaged
Communicating effectively with children, families and any external bodies
Following company policies and procedures including safeguarding, SEND and Health and Safety and ensure all legislation in relation to these is complied with
Any other duties as required by the nursery manager or deputy manager within the scope of the role.
What we are looking for:
Qualifications required:
Full and relevant Level 2 or 3 in Childcare qualification (Essential)
A current food hygiene certificate (Desirable)
A current paediatric first aid certificate (Desirable)
Experience required:
Experience of working within a nursery setting (Desirable)

Communicating effectively with children, families and any external bodies
Following company policies and procedures including safeguarding, SEND and Health and Safety and ensure all legislation in relation to these is complied with
