Fruit kebab making!
The children loved exploring fruit that they may not get to experience regularly!
They always love the responsibility of chopping their own fruit and we talked about and practiced using our child safe knives safely!

Last week, we transformed our home corner into a cafe and watched as the children immersed themselves in amazing role play, turn taking and interactions!
We then used a cup cake recipe to make our own cakes with our nursery cook, Pauline before using our own artistic flare to decorate them with icing and chocolate buttons!

Today we enjoyed a trip to Wharton park, where the children enjoyed a change of scenery and new opportunities to challenge their physical skills! The children love the responsibility of watching out for and getting on the bus sensibly and watching out of the window to spot new and exciting things! We had lots of roads to cross this morning, giving us the perfect opportunity to talk about and put into practice our road safety skills and talk about why using our listening ears helps to keep us safe!

Due to unforeseen circumstances, we have had to temporarily close Best Start Family Hub Wheatley Hill.
We asked our pest control and health and safety teams to visit the hub and, after they inspected the property, took the decision to close on their advice.
This is a purely precautionary measure in the interests of the children and families that use our site.
All bookings, groups and programmes at the site are cancelled and we will update hub users as soon as we can on reopening.
In the meantime, users of our Wheatley Hill site are very welcome at our family hubs at Peterlee and Easington which provide similar services.
We are working to get the site open again as quickly as possible. We are hoping this will be later this month, but we will only reopen when we have been advised it is appropriate to do so.

The twos room is getting into the spring time spirt ๐ฟ๐ผ. Yesterday we used our physical and road safety skills and went for a lovely walk where the children picked daffodils. Today they used the daffodils to make their very own spring tea in the water tray. There explored their senses and used their problem solving skills to figure out how to get the teabags, flowers and oranges in and out of the different containers with the tools provided.
