I used to think I had to keep my child busy so I could get things done.

But sometimes the whining was not about needing more entertainment.

It was about wanting connection.

A small job.

A place beside me.

A way to feel included.

Parenting is not always about creating perfect moments.

Sometimes it is letting them stand next to you in the middle of the ordinary ones. 💛

When children share their feelings or experiences, they’re not always looking for advice, solutions, or a lesson right away.

Often, what they need most is empathy.

They’re inviting us into their inner world and hoping we will pause long enough to understand what they’re feeling before we try to fix it.

When we acknowledge their emotions, we communicate:

“I’m here.”
“I’m listening.”
“What you feel matters.”
“You don’t have to go through this alone.”

Validation doesn’t mean we agree with everything they say or do. It means we are willing to understand their experience before moving into problem-solving.

And sometimes, the most powerful thing we can offer our child is not the perfect answer — it’s our calm, steady presence.

Listen first. Validate first. Connect first.

The solutions can come after.
