🌲 CAN YOU HELP THE YELLOWSTONE PROGRAMME? 🌲

We are building a practical clothing and equipment bank for the young people attending our farm-based alternative provision.

Some of the children we support may not always have access to suitable outdoor clothing or equipment. We want every young person to be able to take part comfortably, safely and without feeling different, whatever the weather.

We would be incredibly grateful for donations of new or good-quality used items suitable for children and teenagers aged approximately 6-18.

🥾 OUTDOOR CLOTHING

• Wellies and outdoor boots in different sizes
• Waterproof coats and trousers
• Warm onesies and overalls
• Fleeces and warm jumpers
• Hats, gloves and scarves
• Thick socks
• Child-sized work gloves
• High-visibility jackets or tabards
• Sun hats and lightweight outdoor clothing

🐴 ANIMAL AND YARD EQUIPMENT

• Child-sized or lightweight mucking-out forks
• Shavings forks and small manure scoops
• Yard brushes, sweeping brushes and dustpans
• Buckets, tubs and feed scoops
• Grooming brushes, combs and hoof picks
• Headcollars, lead ropes and haynets
• Wheelbarrows suitable for young people
• Stable tools and safe storage containers
• Clean towels and washable animal blankets

🌳 FORESTRY, WOODLAND AND BUSHCRAFT EQUIPMENT

• Child-sized gardening and woodland gloves
• Litter pickers and collecting buckets
• Hand trowels, forks and small spades
• Rakes, leaf grabbers and yard brooms
• Watering cans
• Magnifying glasses and bug-viewing pots
• Binoculars
• Wildlife cameras
• Bird boxes, feeders and nesting materials
• Bug hotel materials
• Compasses, maps and waterproof clipboards
• Tarpaulins, ground sheets and den-building materials
• Rope, twine and natural craft materials
• Log carriers and lightweight hand tools

For safety reasons, please contact us before donating sharp tools, cutting equipment, electrical tools or machinery.

🌱 GARDENING AND GROWING

• Child-sized gardening tools
• Plant pots, planters and raised beds
• Seeds, bulbs, compost and seed trays
• Watering cans and water butts
• Gardening kneelers
• Greenhouse equipment
• Fruit and vegetable growing equipment
• Clean jars, baskets and containers for harvesting

💚 SENSORY AND CHILL-OUT ROOM

We are also developing our cabin’s sensory and regulation space to help young people feel calm, safe and ready to re-engage.

Useful donations could include:

• Fidget toys and sensory resources
• Beanbags and floor cushions
• Sensory or weighted blankets and weighted lap pads
• Wobble cushions, balance boards and stepping stones
• Small spinning sensory chairs
• Indoor hammocks or hammock chairs
• Rocking chairs
• Pop-up tents, canopies or calm dens
• Yoga mats and soft exercise balls
• Sensory lights, projectors and bubble lamps
• Ear defenders and noise-reducing headphones
• Visual timers and calm-down resources
• Soft, washable rugs and throws
• Storage baskets and boxes

🎨 PRACTICAL, CREATIVE AND ENRICHMENT ACTIVITIES

We would also welcome:

• Old horseshoes to clean, paint and decorate
• Safe wood offcuts for supervised projects
• Paint, brushes and craft materials
• Wool, fabric, ribbon and string
• Natural materials for seasonal crafts
• Bird-feeder and bug-hotel materials
• Board games, puzzles and suitable books
• Outdoor games and sports equipment
• Waterproof storage boxes
• Children’s cooking and baking equipment
• Musical instruments
• Cameras or simple photography equipment
• Walkie-talkies
• Reusable water bottles and lunch bags

Please only donate items that are clean, complete, safe and in good usable condition.

Every donated coat, pair of wellies, grooming brush or sensory resource will help a young person feel included and able to take part in the full Yellowstone experience.

If you have anything that may be useful, even if it is not listed above, please send us a message. We would be very happy to discuss it and arrange collection or drop-off.

Thank you for helping us create a place where every young person can belong, be known, grow, achieve and adventure. 💚

Please share — you never know who may have exactly what we need sitting unused in a shed, tack room, wardrobe or cupboard!

Gemma Pickering Frampton and Lisa Allport attended the Durham County Council Alternative Provision Conference 2026 today - it was a fantastic opportunity to network, learn from others, share good practice but most importantly discuss how we continue to drive quality assurance across multi agency services so young people get the best education and experience they can.
