Today marks the final day of Sophie Underwood’s time as Team Durham President, and what a year it’s been!

Sophie has brought so much energy, passion and personality to the role. We couldn’t let her final day pass without saying a huge thank you for everything she’s done for ⚡️

Tomorrow, Peter Kennedy officially takes the reins as our 2026/27 President.

With a 12 month student membership at Durham, you’ll gain access to the BUCS University Gym Scheme❗️

This means when you return home or travel, you can use other participating university gyms at no extra cost.

All you need to do is:
1️⃣ Purchase a student membership at Maiden Castle Sports Centre
2️⃣ Sign up to BUCS play prior to heading home/travel
3️⃣ Book your desired time slot at your gym of choice

Today, we celebrate our incredible Dunelm - Durham Alumni who have proudly represented their countries on the world’s biggest sporting stage!

Beyond their outstanding achievements, five of our Olympic and Paralympic alumni are now championing a vision for a future games in the North of England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

Among them are Lauren Irwin, Tess Howard MBE, Sophie Hoskins MBE, Lily van den Broecke MBE, Louise Reeve and our Head of Rowing, Will Fletcher 👏

Together, they hope to inspire future generations of athletes across the region and beyond!
