This morning we made some healthy wild duck food and this afternoon we took it along to the park and fed the ducks! They ducks certainly looked like they enjoyed it and we did too!
Ingredients:
* 1 cup Brown Rice
* Greens (I used broccoli, carrot and apple)
* 2 hard-boiled eggs (with shells)
* 2 tablespoons of wholemeal flour
1. Cook the rice, either in a rice cooker or as per the instructions on the back of the packet.
2. Finely chop the broccoli.
3. Grate carrot and apple.
4. Smash eggs and ensure they are crushed and/or chopped well. The egg shells need to be very small.
5. Place all ingredients in a bowl and mix well.
6. Roll the mixture into small marble-sized balls and place onto an oven-proof tray.
7. Cook in the oven for 10-13 minutes.
The mixture should come out soft and a little crumbly but still hold its shape!

We have loved the snow this week, lots of fun exploring with colour, we have talked about freezing and melting we have guessed what will happen when we bring the snow inside, or when we leave water outside. We have discussed ways we can keep our bodies warm when playing in the snow, talked about how the snow and ice feel when we touch it. Amazing what you can learn when you’re just having fun ❄️⛄️❄️

Today we explored colour with snow paints, so much learning whilst just enjoying the outdoors and having fun!
Understanding the world - we used scientific thinking, questioning what happens when we mix two colours? How much yellow to make orange?
Communication and Language - we used lots of descriptive language, used talk to connect ideas and explain what is happening and what might happen next.
Mathematics - we used simple mathematical concepts such as more or less.
Physical development - we used a variety of motor skills, squirting, mixing, handling tools, control.

Making and playing with playdough is probably our favourite thing to do here at chatterbox childcare so no suprised weve been enjoying some festive themed playdough!
We use the Ikea cups as seen in the pictures and add
🥛2 cups plain flour
🥛1 cup salt
🥛2 cups cold water
🥄2 tbsp cream of tartar
🥄1tbsp oil (can be any oil, vegetable oil coconut oil, baby oil)
🧪Any colour, spices, herbs, essential oils you want to add. (We added 2 tbsp cinnamon and 1tbsp of ginger to this recipe)
🥣Pop all the ingredients into a pan and give a big mix then warm over a medium heat until the the playdough comes together into ball. Turn out on to chopping board and allow to cool slightly before kneading and allowing little ones to play.
