If you're feeling anxious or stressed around your studies or in life in general, take some time out and try the following ๐ฅฐ
Four Ways to Tamper Down Anxiety and Find Your Chill!
1. The "Peace Begins With Me" Mini-Meditation
Gently press your thumb to your index finger, saying "peace" (silently or out loud), then to your middle finger as you say "begins," then to your ring finger on "with," and finally to your pinkie on "me." Repeat for about one minute. This quiets the mind and reminds you that you're capable of creating serenity anywhere, anytime.
2. The Tension-Releaser
Sit on a chair with both feet on the floor. With your tongue, trace a circle around the inside of your mouth, following your teeth. Do this for 30 to 90 seconds. Repeat, reversing direction. Focusing on movement grounds you in your body, which helps dissolve anxious thoughts.
3. The One-Minute Breath
Slowing down your breathing soothes your nervous system. Inhale for five seconds, hold for five seconds, release for five seconds, hold for five seconds. Repeat for one minute. This mind-calming technique can be used in any situation, even while driving.
4. The Snap-Out-Of-It Secret
Wear a rubber band on your wrist, and when you notice a negative thought, snap it. This helps you stop the spiral so you can reverse your mental momentum. Let's say you have a fear of losing your job, and one day your boss comes into the office in a weird or bad mood. As soon as you start thinking "I've done something wrong!," snap the rubber band and talk yourself down: "It's probably something going on in her personal life. I know I'm a great worker!"
