Today at 11am (GMT) there will be a two minute silence to mark Armistice Day.

Armistice Day is a day of memorial observed since the end of WW1 to recall the end of the hostilities of the first world war that formally ended at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month (11/11/1918).

Wearing a poppy to symbolise this was inspired by the poem 'In Flanders Fields' by Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae.

If you're interested, there's more info on the wearing of the poppy to mark Remembrance Day here: https://www.britishlegion.org.uk/get-involved/remembrance/about-remembrance/the-poppy
