Forest School was absolutely fantastic today. The children worked brilliantly as a team, putting up hammocks and tents that kept them cosy and dry in the rainy weather. Their resilience and cooperation really shone through

Today we were visited by Durham Fire Service. They explained to us all about what their job entails. They discussed the high rise in arson and explained what steps we could do to try and help reduce it. We also discussed water safety and the importance of keeping ourselves safe around water and what to do if we find ourselves or anyone else in danger.

Mini Vinnies went on a litter pick with our Eco Warrior group. As Mini Vinnies and Ecos we pledged to take care of our common home so felt we must do something to help. We understand that God has created a world in which humans have a special role as stewards of creation. This means they should look after the interests of the planet and all life on it. This belief is more about living in harmony with nature. God asks us to take responsibility for the Earth, as Pope Francis did in his encyclical, Laudato Si',
We are stewards of the earth, summoned by God to “work it and take care of it” (Genesis 2:15).

Year 3 had a wonderful day on their trip to Tynemouth Aquarium and the beach. The children took part in an exciting sharks workshop where they learnt about different sharks and examined real examples of shark teeth, before exploring the aquarium and discovering a variety of sea creatures. We finished the day with some time on the beach.

To kick off the World Cup celebrations, we welcomed Dan from Freestyle Football into school. He told us about his journey (including rejection) through football and what led him to being a freestyling footballer who holds multiple world records. He showed off some skills and invited some children (and Mr Storey, of course!) to join him!
