Muddy Monsters is a parent and toddler class, using friendly monsters to support children to solve problems and be confident to play in the outdoors.

Muddy Monsters is a fun filled, messy, muddy activity group for pre-school and primary age fun loving children. School holiday classes take place outdoors exploring local woodland and outdoor spaces. Adventures are organised and delivered by an experienced, trained Early Years and Forest School teacher, with the aim to increase children's knowledge of the outside world within a safer environment.

Varied, exciting and creative activities capture the children's imagination with the aim to improve personal development. Each session children are taken on an adventure with a different Muddy Monster character to explore, investigate and discover the outside world. 🌿 Muddy Monsters Magic! 🌿

We had an amazing day in the woods today!
🫧 Giant bubbles drifting through the trees
🍰 Mud pies being expertly “baked”
🌳 Dens built, trees climbed, and so much laughing from both children and grown-ups!

And of course… our funny Muddy Monsters made another cheeky appearance! 👹😄

Starting next week, 4 days of 90 minute classes to book on to with 4 different themes. Suitable for children from 1-11 years old and their families.

February half term Dens and Pancakes classes delivered at two Gateshead schools.

All classes are 90 minutes long and suitable for 1 to 10 year olds.
Help make and decorate delicious american style pancakes (vegan option available) over the campfire 🔥. Learn how to use ropes and tarpaulins, how to make a den and create tiny monster homes.
All of the traditional Muddy Monsters play stations will be available too, including hammock and rope swing. Available at either the amazing Forest School area at Lobley Hill Primary School or the NEW forest school area at St Aidan’s Primary School.

Thursday 1st June at Brighton Avenue Primary School (close to Team Valley)

Come along and learn how to make amazing dens with sticks, cord and fabric to hide inside. Explore different knots and kinds of den to make the perfect cosy shelter.
Enjoy toasting a marshmallow around the fire before making it into a delicious s’more (everyone's favourite).
Explore how to make different types of boats to float down the long gutter river.
Explore the amazing forest school site and explore the mud kitchen, water area, mud painting, watercolour painting, rope swing, hammock and story area.
Suitable for confident walkers to 9 years old and their families.

Look at this amazing ‘skulk of foxes’ carved by the amazing Year 6 children from Brighton Avenue Primary School in Gateshead.
We split the wood using a bill hook before using sheath knives to do various different types of cut to create the different parts of the animals. They were very proud of their efforts. The children across the school love their Forest school sessions each half term.

Muddy Monsters Forest School new term at Washington Old Hall, starting next Wednesday, 19th April.
£24 for 6 weeks of 60 minute classes. Start at 10am or 12pm.
This term we plan to learn lots of new Forest school games and have lots of nature crafts and activities to experience.

Wow! Happy 7th Birthday to Muddy Monsters 🎉🎂
This week, 7 years ago, the first ever Muddy Monsters classes took place at Saltwell Park!
How time flies! …the monsters haven’t aged a bit - surprised I still have all 4 of them!
