STEM is everywhere

When we talk about STEM (Science Technology Engineering Maths), people often picture laboratories, computers, or complicated equations. But STEM isn’t just about high-tech environments or advanced research - it’s about exploring, noticing, chatting and being curious about the world around us.

Every time a child looks closely at a ladybird, plays with a toy phone, wonders how to build their tower of bricks higher or counts out scoops of flour for a recipe, they’re engaging with real-world STEM. It’s curiosity, creativity, and problem-solving - not just formulas and code.

It's STEM Day this weekend, let’s remember that the foundations of scientific thinking start long before classrooms or careers. They begin with awe and wonder.

If you are using the half term to sort through toys ready for the influx at Christmas - do keep them aside ready for the FAMOUS Dunster school toy fair!!

Toys, complete puzzles, books etc can be taken into the school when we return after half term ❤️

We are also on the hunt for raffle prizes - so if you are a business owner who could offer up a service, product or a cash prize, a night away in your holiday accommodation or you work for a generous company who could support us in our advent fundraising activities, please get in touch!

All money raised by FoDS is spent on Dunster school children. We provide the ‘extras’… the school trips, outdoor learning clothes, the swimming pool, the books for the library, the forest licence for our piece of Grabbist to name a few.

Thank you for continuing to support our small, but very special school.

💔

As our beautiful community grieves the tragic loss of a precious child, and we try to navigate the feelings of deep sadness, confusion, and pain,
words can often fall short.

We send our love and strength to the family, friends, classmates, teachers, emergency services and all those impacted by this tragedy.

We can not begin to imagine how traumatising this will be for all those directly affected, and how this will unfold over the coming months, but we will do all we can to support our wonderful children.

We will be working closely with the schools and the local community, especially during their last two days of the school year and over the Summer, please reach out to us if you need us.

We would like to share with you some more immediate support resources - Winston’s Wish - There is an excellent live chat facility on their website, you can speak directly to a trained advisor, they offer clear, gentle guidance and emotional support.
