Dyslexic thinking! If Steven Speilberg can achieve what he has done in the literacy world then there should be no barriers to anyone with Dyslexia.

Do you read slowly, but get fully absorbed in a story? So does Steven Spielberg - and he's one of the world's best storytellers!

Read this brilliant article where he reveals his favourite stories of all time and which book he makes all of his 7 children read! It's based on an interview Steven did with Jack Edwards on TikTok.

Dyslexic thinkers process information differently, which may mean we read more slowly and it takes more energy. But like Steven, many of us are born storytellers, and lots of us access stories in different ways: through audiobooks, via films, through comics and graphic novels.

Tell us how you enjoy stories most in the comments.

For the last few weeks this girl has worked really hard on her reading for information skills, finding the key points in the texts and learning to make her own notes. She does love to create something to help her remember things so as the topic was the Amazon Rainforest, it just had to be a giant felt tree!

Lots of practical challenges tonight to help understand fractions of quantities. Cutting up lengths of wool and strawberry laces into equal sizes then dividing 2 litres of water equally into various cups and glasses. So much maths going on other than the fractions - measuring accurately, choosing the best tool for the job, factors of numbers and a discussion about why millilitres is thousands not millions.

Small groups or 1:1 tutoring allows for this flexibility and helps the child learn in the best way for them.

After learning about fractions using smarties last session amd water and strawberry laces this session, I wonder what we will be using next week?

Last week was a very exciting one for one of my learners. 4 medals in a swimming festival, 2 silver and 2 bronze. Outstanding achievement! This is such a boost of confidence for him, just look at that grin. Well done!

Busy day today updating my First Aid Certificate. Now fully qualified as a paediatric first aider for another 3 years. Can't forgive the trainer for lodging Baby Shark in my head though so thought I'd share it with you as it really does work and is a fantastic way to help children understand heart rhythm.

Very excited to have a long weekend as it is a bank holiday in Scotland on Monday. The weather is looking fabulous and we are off to the West Coast, probably to find some rain. Tutoring resumes on Tuesday 5th May.
