✨ A Little Piece of Dunmow's History ✨
A couple of months ago, I was contacted by the great-niece of Lilian Judges, the founder of Marcelle School of Dancing. She had discovered a wonderful collection of memorabilia that had been carefully kept over the years – old show programmes and tickets, newspaper cuttings and some fantastic photographs.
It was such a special moment to look back through the history of our dance school and see how it has grown over the decades.
Marcelle School of Dancing was founded by Lilian Judges in 1934, making it the oldest dance school in Great Dunmow. Miss Maureen then proudly carried on Lilian's legacy before I became the third Principal in 2012.
To be part of a dance school with over 90 years of history is something I feel incredibly proud of. So many generations of dancers have passed through our doors, creating lifelong memories, friendships and a love of dance that continues today.
Thank you to Lilian's family for sharing these precious memories with me. It's a wonderful reminder that Marcelle School of Dancing isn't just a dance school—it's a little piece of Dunmow's history. ❤️
