One of our very own ‘Faye’ celebrated her beautiful baby girl’s first birthday today, and what made it extra special was seeing both current and former staff from The Barn come together to celebrate this precious milestone. 🥹🎂💗

It’s moments like these that remind us that The Barn is so much more than just a workplace. Over the years, colleagues become friends, friends become family, and we get to share in each other’s special moments, both inside and outside the nursery. ❤️

That’s what makes The Barn so special, it’s not just about the children we care for, but also the bonds we build with one another along the way. 🫶🏼✨

At our nursery, we believe that there’s no such thing as bad weather, just opportunities for new adventures and learning! 🥾🍂
We embrace the outdoors in all seasons, whatever the British weather brings! From splashing in puddles on rainy days 🌧️ to exploring crunchy leaves in autumn 🍁, feeling the sunshine in summer ☀️, and discovering frost on chilly mornings ❄️, we encourage our children to enjoy outdoor play throughout the year.

🌱 Why is this so important?

🌿 Physical development: Outdoor play helps children develop their balance, coordination, strength and confidence.

🧠 Learning through exploration: Nature provides endless opportunities to discover, investigate, ask questions and develop curiosity about the world around us.

💚 Mental wellbeing: Fresh air, natural surroundings and freedom to explore can support children’s wellbeing, confidence and happiness.

🤝 Social skills: Outdoor adventures encourage children to work together, solve problems, share experiences and build friendships.

🌍 Resilience and independence: Experiencing different weather conditions helps children understand the changing seasons, adapt to new experiences and develop a positive attitude towards challenges.

Every puddle is an opportunity, every leaf tells a story, and every season brings something new to discover. 🌈🌳

Our little gardeners have been busy getting their hands dirty today as we prepare our veggie patches for planting on Monday. 👨‍🌾Working together as a team, the children used a variety of tools to dig, explore and remove all the weeds from both patches. 🌿💪

🐛While digging and exploring, the children discovered lots of mini beasts hiding in the soil. We took a closer look, talked about what we had found and learned a little about our tiny garden visitors. The children also enjoyed stroking the pig and the chickens whilst being outside.

Our garden was also full of friendship and fun.🌈 Our preschool children enjoyed spending time alongside their younger siblings and other children, playing together in the garden. This lovely shared experience encouraged social interaction, communication, turn-taking and positive relationships, whilst allowing the children to learn from and support one another through play. 👫💛

🌾🚜 Celebrating Harvest at Debden 🚜🌾

At Debden Barn Nursery, we’re celebrating Harvest and taking time to appreciate where our food comes from. 🌽🥕🍎

We’re collecting food donations to share with members of our community who need them most. This is a wonderful opportunity for our children to learn about kindness, generosity and the importance of supporting others.

We’re also saying a very special thank you to our wonderful farmers for all the hard work, care and dedication that goes into growing and producing the food that reaches our tables every day. 🚜🌾

Harvest gives our children the chance to learn about the journey from field to fork, exploring how food is grown, discovering seasonal fruits and vegetables, and developing an appreciation for the people and natural world that provide for us.

A big thank you to our farming community and everyone who contributes to our collection🌾🐝

👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 Olive Barn Nursery

Olive Barn has continued to be busy working with NOF (Nourishing Our Future).

We've introduced a new second course option, featuring homemade tortilla chips with tzatziki or fresh carrot sticks paired with a cream cheese dip.

Our lovely Cheffy Bear has also been making special visits to some of your homes, and we are thrilled to see the delicious recipes you’ve added to our recipe book.

We have been working closely with parents by sharing details of webinars run by NOF, and we have our informational NOF shelves in the reception area (you can find Cheffy Bear here).

With all these fun and exciting changes, Olive Barn is proud to announce that we are one of the first nurseries in Essex to receive the Sprouting Award!! We are super proud of this achievement 😁

As we near the end of August, we are beginning to say our goodbyes to children starting their journey to primary school as well as children starting on new adventures in their new rooms within the nursery and we couldn’t be prouder of each and every one of them. Being able to be a part of these children’s journey is such a privilege,it’s incredibly special watching them grow and be happy and confident in everything they do.

We are so grateful to those parents that write beautiful words in cards and treat us to such lovely, generous gifts - we are so grateful for each and every one of you.

Classes of 2026 have been an absolute pleasure, good luck in everything you all do - be brave, be strong, be kind and be happy. ❤️❤️❤️

💫We’re looking for a reliable, hardworking and friendly Housekeeping Superstar to join our nursery team!💫

You will be responsible for keeping our nursery sparkling clean, safe, welcoming and super organised, creating a happy and positive environment for our children, staff and families.

We’re looking for someone who has:
⭐️Previous experience in cleaning, housekeeping or a similar role, ideally within an educational setting
⭐️Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
⭐️A proactive approach and initiative to keep the nursery looking presentable and professional for children, families and visitors
⭐️The ability to work independently, as well as being a positive team player
⭐️A caring attitude and a commitment to providing the best possible environment for the children in our care
⭐️Flexibility and a willingness to help wherever needed

Working Hours - Year Round, Monday to Friday, 9:00am–3:00pm
(Hours could be slightly adjusted for the right candidate)

An Enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references are required for this role.
