We have enjoyed showing parents our work on Black History Month demonstrating their learning about ‘Reclaiming Narratives’ to honour heroes, embrace stories and empower and educate. Children have created artwork, written stories and fact files.

What a great day raising money for Children in Need. We have learned lots about the work the charity carries out and about making our own backpacks of worry lighter on our shoulders. We have so far raised over £500 - thank you to everyone who has contributed.

What a fantastic day we had with Neal Zetter. The children laughed, shouted and clapped through his workshops and assemblies and enjoyed the poetry he presented with enthusiasm. We hope some of the children were inspired by his story and determination from the age of 6 to become a full time poet.

It has been a wonderful day in school so far! Really lovely to see so many happy smiling children returning to school, catching up with friends, meeting new teachers and settling into the new school year.

Thank you to everyone who voted for us with their blue tokens at Tesco. Having consulted with members of Pupil Voice they had requested “more of the same” so we recently had a delivery of new equipment. In line with their request we also have a colourful giant Jenga game, limbo set and football goals of varying sizes so that more children are able to play football. The children have really enjoyed the bright colourful equipment.

Our Y3 and Y4 children were treated to a prayer day with Grace and Zoe from St Mary’s Church. They learned all about the Easter story by visiting a number of stations including The Last Supper, the journey to the cross and the resurrection. The children listened and participated very respectfully. Our thanks go to Grace and Zoe for their time, creativity and enthusiasm.

We are so very proud of Ada and Sonny who represented our school at the DEEP Public Speaking competition yesterday evening. All local primary schools were invited to share speeches on the theme of No Outsiders - Everyone Different, Everyone Welcome.

Every class in KS2 wrote speeches and on Wednesday the winners from each class shared their speech with all children in KS2. Everyone did an amazing job and the messaging from children was wonderful as they talked about inclusivity, respect for others and making sure that there are No Outsiders at our school.

Ada and Sonny represented the school brilliantly, narrowly missing out on the top spot!

The children have been inspired by the Little People Big Dreams collection and dressed as some amazing, inspirational characters today from astronauts to songwriters to zoo keepers. Alongside a protest by suffragettes in our KS2 assembly, book fair and quizzes we have had a great day.

Our Y5 children were transported to France for breakfast today. They entered the “café” where they ordered and were served pastries and drinks in French. This is a really exciting way for the children to learn how to put their language skills into practice.

This afternoon Y4 invited their lucky parents in to see and taste the delicious food they had been cooking this half term as part of their “Food for Thought” topic based around Judaism. The parents tasted Challah and Matzah breads, potato latkes and Hamantaschen traditionally cooked and eaten in celebration of Jewish festivals. They were also entertained with children playing the school ukuleles.
