We are recruiting for an EarlyYears Lead Practitioner.

Puddleduck Nursery is a small friendly nursery in Dunkeld 12 miles north of Perth.

The main purpose of the position is to work within our Early Years Team, supporting the planning implementation of activities with individual or groups of children; promoting effective learning.
We offer children a safe, secure, caring and supportive environment, providing opportunities to foster their growth and development within the nursery and promote the inclusion of all children.

The ideal candidate should have experience of Realising the Ambition, How good is our early learning and childcare,A quality framework for daycare of children and other relevant legislation and frameworks.

Job Type: Full Time or Part -time .
Salary:according to experience.
Holidays: 6weeks per year (flexible with dates)
Pension Scheme,employer contribution 4%.
Expenses towards travel and uniform

Extensive Training and impressive personal and career-focused development opportunities.

Qualification: SVQ Level 3 Social Services or HNC Child care and Education or equivalent.
The correct candidate should be working towards or holds a leadership qualification.

Spring is here! The Puddleduck Children have been out and about exploring the Spring weather spotting signs of Spring and learning about ‘Curious Creatures’ with a big focus on birds (the children’s choice after some excellent bird spotting on our weekly walks to the library).

Hi Everyone…and a very Happy Valentine’s Day!

We have had a very exciting few weeks since returning after our winter break! The Puddleduck Children have been out and about exploring the local area and enjoying lots of learning about Friendship and Feelings (which has been our learning focus since the New Year).

We have continued our weekly visit to the local library at Birnam Art Centre and enjoyed regular trips to the playing field and woods, which will be coming more frequent as the weather starts to become milder. We plan to to do some den building and want to give a massive ‘thank you’ to our kind parents for donating climbing ropes for this helping us get ready for this as stormy weather starts to pass 😊

Hi Everyone, this year we are participating in Christmas Jumper day- our official Christmas Jumper day is tomorrow 1st December but… staff will be wearing jumpers throughout December. If you are able to give our just giving page for ‘Save the Children’ will be open until 13th January 2022. If you can give please do and if not please don’t worry…but still come wearing some festive jumpers 😊

We're taking part in Save the Children's Christmas Jumper Day on Friday 10 December! Every pound we raise will give children in the UK and around the world the chance to grow up healthy and happy, and change the future for good.

Hi Everyone,

Autumn is well and truly underway and we have been out and about exploring the season down at the woods, playing field and orchard. The children have asked to learn about wildlife in Dunkeld- starting with insects and mushrooms 🍄

We were also lucky enough to be invited to ‘Plant a Tree for the Queen’s jubilee’ in the Beatrix Potter garden. The children were all super excited to meet the queens “friend” and preformed their Peter Rabbit song 🎵

Some work has also been taken out in our garden as part of our term 1 quality improvement plan- including new gazebos, new bark, a new surface on the concrete area and power added to the summer house…and we are undertaking our Forest Kindergarten qualification.

We have also received quite a bit of interest in places at the nursery- I will be contacting all of the families on the waiting list over next week to let you know what space we will have available in 2022 😊

Hi Everyone!

Sorry for the delayed post! We have been saying a big ‘goodbye’ to all of our amazing children going off to Primary 1! We will miss you all lots but you are all very ready for the next step!

We have also been welcoming our new children, who are all settling in brilliantly!

As always, the children have been leading the learning and decided to start looking at ‘things that go’ which has led into ‘people who help us’ with lots of interest in firemen, police officers, vets and medical staff!

June has been a very exciting month at Puddleduck Nursery! We have had our nursery trip to Active Kids, Sports Day and our End of Term Celebration where our children preformed Zog.

Our learning has been ‘Animal Planet’ where the children have asked to learn about lots of different creatures from whale sharks to cheetahs, and continue to look round our planet to see where different animals live. This learning has been a whole nursery approach with all children from our babies to our pre-schoolers joining in the animal planet investigation 🌍

Hi Everyone and a Happy Easter!

Our ducks have been up to lots of great learning since returning in February, the children decided they wanted to learn about insects and plants...which has led to lots of digging in the mud, a flower kitchen, making a bug hotel and worm world 🪱

We have also being taking part in the Scottish Government funded Virtual Nature School helping us develop our outdoor play...which has been a great help as we have moved most of our learning and play to the garden.

Hopefully this will be the start of a warm Spring season.

Hello Everyone!
..And a massive welcome back. That’s January all done and dusted! As you will know we are currently open only to keyworkers, but they have been a busy bunch 😊 Exploring winter and the seasons, looking at themselves, similarities and differences and the 5 senses.

We know many of you are at home juggling remote working, with looking after a young child, so a huge thank you for engaging with our learning on Famly and if we can do anything to support you further please let us know.

We have received a number of enquiries regarding places at the nursery. We are currently close to capacity and places from August onward are almost full too. If you need a place or wish to increase days going forward please let us know ASAP so we can meet your need. Contact via phone or email is always best 😊
