Home Care Aide, Bolton Centre
Full time permanent position available for a home health care aide in private residence.
Under the supervision of the Client’s mother, and in the Client’s home, the Home Health Care Aide (Aide) will provide services and support to an adult woman with neuromuscular myopathy, a tracheostomy, and a ventilator (Client).
Primary tasks and responsibilities:
The Aide will:
1. perform personal care, such as feeding, bathing, grooming, getting dressed, turning, etc;
2. perform medical tasks, such as:
a. oral and trach suctioning using an LSU machine;
b. trach replacement;
3. maintain inventory of the Client’s supplies;
4. perform light housekeeping duties, such as cleaning the Client’s dishes and laundry, and keeping her room tidy;
5. (occasionally) assist with moving the Client using a lift
6. (occasionally) assist with setting up the Client in her motorized chair;
Qualifications and aptitudes:
• English fluency is a must (active listening, speaking, reading, writing)
• Demonstrated experience in a home care setting;
• Demonstrated experience with medical equipment;
• Ability to learn and retain instructions
• Calm and patience in high stress situations;
• Compassion, integrity and personal motivation
• Client confidentiality as requested
Working conditions:
• Training to be provided by the Client’s parents;
• Client’s has a private room in her parents’ home in Bolton Centre
• Client has own wash station in a bathroom shared with parents;
• Aide must have driving permit, vehicle, cell phone at her own expense;
• Paid bi-weekly (every two weeks).
