Our little ones thrived during this imaginative and creative activity🦖🦕

We loved observing the children explore this activity creating lots of play scenarios for each of the dinosaurs on their land🏝️

Thank you very much to the EarEarly Years - the organisation for young children for showcasing one of the many tuff tray creations we use daily to promote and develop the interests of our children through the pre school curriculum.📚💛

🦕 Dino Discoveries at The Dry Arch Children's Centre Playgroup - Dungiven 🔍✨

Early Years Quality Mentor Noletta observed fantastic child-led learning in action today! Staff thoughtfully followed the children’s interest in dinosaurs 🐾 and created a wonderful hands-on provocation that sparked curiosity and engagement.

By listening to children's voices, staff supported deeper learning and gave children ownership over their experiences — a powerful way to foster motivation and joy in learning. 💬🧠

This activity aligns beautifully with the Northern Ireland Pre-School Curriculum, promoting:
🌍 Exploration of the world around us
🗣️ Language development
🧠 Curiosity and communication skills

A brilliant example of meaningful, responsive early years practice! 👏

Glycerol is often used to create the slush effect. But in high quantities, especially to small children, glycerol can cause shock, hypoglycaemia (low blood sugar) and loss of consciousness.

That’s why current advice says slushies with glycerol are not recommended for children under five. And, older children should be limited to just one slush a day.

But slushies have been back in the news this week, with new research suggesting the age threshold may need to be even higher.
