Based on requests from several teachers and discussions with Qualifications Scotland, we're offering a new 1-day course in December focusing on experiments and assignments for N5 Physics.

This course will present novel, well-tested approaches to experimental work in National 5 Physics, many of which could be suitable for Assignments as well as general practical learning in class. Delegates will get hands-on and take their own measurements, to highlight some of the common hurdles that pupils may come across. The course will also include an in-person talk and Q&A with Andrew Shield from Qualifications Scotland regarding the assessment and verification of National 5 assignments.

The application closing date is approaching for our upcoming 1-day Working with Radioactive Sources course in November. This is the last chance to do this course in person in this academic year. As well as helping you keep up to date with current regulations surrounding radioactivity, we will highlight several interesting activities for the classroom.

If you have sources in your school then you must have a member of staff who has up-to-date SSERC training.

Here is a great opportunity to enhance your teaching of optics and photonics - it is an entirely free 1-day course and includes a free Photonics Explorer kit.

For the first session we will prioritise schools who do not have a Photonics Explorer kit - please specify this in your application. We will be running this course another two times in early 2027, so if you don't get a place on 30th October there will be other chances for you to get along.
