The mammoth Rare Whisky 101 Pacific Row challenge will help fund clean water projects in Madagascar through The Maclean Foundation.

The Maclean brothers are attempting to become the first team to row the entire Pacific Ocean non-stop and unsupported. They will set off on a 14,000km journey from Lima in Peru to Sydney in Australia.

Ewan, Lachlan and Jamie MacLean hope to break the world record for the fastest human-powered crossing of the Pacific Ocean.

Ewan, Lachlan and Jamie Maclean are taking on the Rare Whisky 101 Pacific Row, in a boat they’ve built themselves. The brothers are attempting to become the first team to row the entire Pacific Ocean non-stop and unsupported.

They are raising money to provide clean water to developing countries through the charity they set up last year with their father, Charlie Maclean MBE, one of the world’s leading whisky experts.

Selected Reserve
Royal Lochnagar, Balmoral, Royal Deeside.

Quite fantastic label design and beautifully presented in its original wooden box, lined in azure blue.

Worth noting that these early Royal Lochnagar Selected Reserve bottlings have plenty of delicious old school sherry influence.

And don't forget that in the 1990s, before the advent of the Special Release series, this Royal Lochnagar bottling was a flagship whisky; and was for an extended period, the most expensive whisky in Diageo's portfolio! (retailing around £150, twice the price of the most expensive Rare Malts bottlings at that time).
