We are currently looking for an experienced individual to join our genuinely happy and caring team at Pitreavie Kindergarten.

The position will require you to work around 38 hours per week, over 4 days (Monday-Friday) between the hours of 8am-6pm. We are open for 50 weeks of the year, closing annually for 2 full weeks over Christmas (usually in-line with the school holidays).

Role Description

- Ensuring the health, safety and wellbeing of the children.

- Providing high quality care and education to children from 3 months to 5 years.

- Working well as part of a team.

- Contributing towards development and care records for children.

- Promoting positive relationships with children, parents and colleagues.

- Participating in daily tasks such as food preparation, cleaning and record keeping.

Key skills

Are all children ready to toddle with Pitreavie Kindergarten next week 🤩☀️

This year we are taking part in Barnardo’s Big Toddle with a Safari Themed adventure! 🐯🦁🐒🕷🐍🐅

Barnardo’s Big Toddle is a short sponsored walk for under 5s. This year, after almost a year stuck indoors, it is so much more than that. It is an opportunity to focus on the incredible experiences we can give our little ones. It is a chance to stop worrying about dirty clothes and muddy faces, put your Best Foot Forward, and simply have buffaloads of fun.

We have sent every child a sponsorship form home, this should be returned to nursery between 5th - 9th July with money in an enclosed envelope with name and sponsorship form attached. If you need another form please contact Miss Rachel and she will send one home for you.

After our Safari toddle all children will receive a medal, sticker, activity pack and a lovely safari snack for taking part! 😁

BADGERS WEEKLY UPDATE:🦡

This week the badgers have been busy making lots of paintings and other decorations for their graduation. We have been planning lots of special surprises for graduation day. The badgers have also talking about what they would like to be when they grow up, there is a huge range - but superheroes feature large. We are also talking lots about school, who is going to which school, which of their friends are going to the same school and emotions about school. We were reading a book about a child starting nursery, and we had a big discussion about why she was a bit scared - lots of the badgers related “she’s never been before “, “ she thinks it’s going to be noisy there”, “she might want to play by herself till she finds a friend”
The badgers chose to make giant bubbles and had lots of fun, mixing the ingredients together and trying to make their own giant bubbles.
We have been practicing our Welsh with miss Rhian, learning new phrases.
We made some lovely cupcakes, the children all helped miss Claire to measure out the ingredients and we spoke about what kinds of cakes are our favourites. We chose red icing because “the sun has been very hot and red is hot!” We spent time this week with the building blocks, we spent time building towers, castles and even a whole shopping centre! We’ve been enjoying our sandpit this week, pretending to be lying on a beach somewhere hot. We learnt a little about the solar eclipse on Thursday and even though it was too cloudy for us to see it we made our own solar eclipse in our sensory tent which the children really enjoyed. BEARS WEEKLY UPDATE

The bears have had a busy week this week again. They have enjoyed some messy play in the garden as we made gooey jelly. We used a powder and the children added water and watched the goo grow. When playing with it the children used great words to describe the goo. We had words like slimy, cold, squishy and wet. The bears have also been interested in the birds in their garden and what they eat. We decided to make some bird feeders with Cheerios and pipe cleaners. The children chose what shape they wanted them and we hung them from our trees in our garden and car park. The children did a fantastic job and the birds have already been enjoying their treats. We have had lots of role playing this week. The children were in our mud kitchen making lots of yummy treats. We used our tablets to google recipes and ingredients so we are going to make some real yummy treats next week. Some of the children also used the water tray and paint brushes to paint our house outside. They did a fantastic job! Our house is looking brand new. This weeks shuffle dance was themed around travel. The children had great fun travelling on the train and flying their own planes. We had some exotic places they wanted to visit. Some of the children wanted to take the train to the zoo and others wanted to take their planes to Africa! I would definitely like to go with them to Africa!! This led to the children discussing the animals that we would see in Africa and at the zoo. Some of the children shared their news about the weekend and we had a few visits to the zoo so this linked together. The bears have been very excited this week as some of them noticed that a few of our tadpoles have grown their back legs. They have been keeping a close eye on them and making sure they are ok. Some of the children found a spider crawling on the wall and we had lots of fun looking at pictures of different spiders. Miss Jemma was a little bit scared of all the big spiders we hoped to find in their garden!! She hopes we don’t find tarantulas in the garden anytime soon! The children are also really enjoying their new blocks kindly donated by one of our parents. They have made some fantastic models. Last week the boys and girls enjoyed playing with bath bombs and once they all dissolved we put them into moulds and put them into the freezer. This week we retrieved them from the freezer and looked at them in a different shape and form. The boys and girls had fun playing with them, watching them melt and smelling them again. They decided that they smelled better last week. The bears have been really interested in the stick man story this week so Miss Emma made some stick men paintings and the children made some fantastic stick men. BABIES AND BABY BUNNIES WEEKLY UPDATE:

The babies and baby bunnies have been exploring the eco garden this week where they found butterflies. We decided to make our own butterflies with paint. They used a variety of methods including using paint brushes and their favourite was painting their hands. The babies and baby bunnies also made some lovely flowers after finding some outside. The babies and baby bunnies had great fun running around out on the grass and playing with the balls. We loved chasing them. We really enjoyed playing with the sand this week and we added rice to give it a different texture. We put the truck in the sand too. We liked the marks it made with its wheels. The babies and baby bunnies have also enjoyed some water play the week too. We love to make a mess! We can’t wait to do it all again next week. Have a lovely weekend ☀️🌈

BUNNIES WEEKLY UPDATE:

The children in the Bunnies room have enjoyed another week of lots of outside play. They have engaged in imaginative play, running round the garden pretending to be cars, trains and aeroplanes and making appropriate sounds. They threw themselves on the bark, kicked their legs and shouted “traffic jam”! The children have been interested in the new bark in the garden. We explained it came from trees and we made bark rubbings. The children continue to enjoy all forms of mark making. They made lovely pictures saying they were “mummy and daddy” and “my mummy will be so proud of me”. A favourite game is to jump off the small raised plant area so we placed stepping pads in the garden to let the children explore balancing. After a wobbly start, they all displayed excellent balancing skills. They have enjoyed water play, splashing animals in water and making animal sounds. Our grass seeds have grown and the children enjoy watering the grass. We use this opportunity as a visual aid to promote the benefits of drinking water, especially in warm weather. The children found some spider webs in the garden so they enjoyed a craft activity making some spiders. It has been another busy week full of exploration and fun. Badgers weekly update 🦡

This week the badgers have been busy helping to get ready for graduation again. We have spent some time making our very own self portraits, using a big mirror and some paint to paint our reflections from the mirror. This lead on to talking about mirrors, we spent some time talking about differences in our friends and ourselves. We spoke about how some of us have different coloured hair, and some of us have different coloured eyes and we decided to make a little tally chart and take note of how many traits each of us have different and the same.
We spent some time pretending to be in our very own restaurant, we set up the table and chairs and pretended to be waiters and waitresses, taking our friends orders and then pretending to be cooks and chefs to make the food. We talked a little about what foods we like when we go to a restaurant and there was lots of mentions of macaroni and chicken nuggets and chips, our favourite pudding was chocolate cake with lovely things like custard, squirty cream or sprinkles so we decided to make our own menus next week and try to make some of our favourite foods for our own badgers restaurant- especially chocolate cake!!
We read a story about Flynn a scared fire engine, which then became a discussion of times they were scared but brave, and tried the activities they were frightened of. The badgers had a big chat about emotions and ways to overcome fears and apprehensions.
The badgers are talking lots about which school they are going to, who is going to the same school and how long they still have at nursery. Next week we are making a calendar, and a role play school area, to act out what we think they’ll be doing when we all leave nursery go to school- which is only a matter of weeks for some of our Badgers!
We had a delivery of bark on Friday, lots of help from the children and staff in digging it out of the big bags and putting it all around the garden.
We have been talking lots about sun safety, sun creams, hats and how important it is to drink lots and lots of water. The addition of the gazebos in the garden were very popular, with lots of games and snacks had underneath in the cool shade. The badgers have been watering the garden lots, with lots of discussions about “flowers need water in the sun just like us”.

Babies and baby bunnies weekly update:
This week the babies and baby bunnies had a fantastic week enjoying some summer sun! They helped Miss Kelly clean the sand toys with soapy water and of course lots and lots of bubble fun! They then helped place all the lovely clean bubble covered toys in the sun and watch the bubbles disappear. They had great fun with Miss Chloe in our sand table making sand prints and half moon sandcastle then demolishing them with great laughter and starting all over again! They also loved feeling the sand between their fingers and the curiosity when they found out it stuck to them after having sun cream on. As the sun had its hat on all week we decided to have fun with yellow ‘sun’ paint and the babies had fun creating and learning their circles and squares with different shaped sponges and yellow paint. We had snack out in our garden most days this week as the weather has been great for us and breadsticks went down well with all our babies. We also took our indoor toys outdoors so the babies also had a fantastic time on our car mat in the garden with the cars, lorries and fire engines, our babies are definitely enthusiastic drivers!
