This year sees many changes for me in my professional life.

One being the end of my stint on Council after 4 amazing years. 😢

Never would I have thought I would be where I am now without BVNA Council and the people I have met during my time as a Council member and then as an Officer.

Presenting lectures online and in-person and chairing lectures at national conferences, being part of the veterinary nursing progression of the profession, visiting Westminster and the Scottish Parliament as BVNA Representative and so much more.

I shall watch with pride, seeing these friends moving on in their Council journey being totally awesome and legendary, and I shall try not to cry at the AGM in October.

We did it!! 5k race, up and around volcanic Arthur’s Seat in beautiful weather.

And I did it - I hit the target of finishing under 45 minutes. 5.5 months of training thanks to a plan - I basically couldn’t run the length of myself last year. But this year, I’ve done runs of various lengths between 3 to 10km, in London, Rome, Harlow, Faro, Naples and many many times around the Bay, Inverkeithing and Aberdour - culminating in a PB of under 45 minutes at Edinburgh

All in aid of raising over £600 between me and Graham Mcleod, in memory of Mum. Hope you’re proud.

Right hubs, when’s the next race?!?

What an honour to share the stage yesterday with legends Carri Westgarth and Jenny Stavisky at the British Veterinary Association (BVA) Animal Discussion Forum in London, wonderfully chaired by Dr Caroline Allen
So many wonderful discussions, very thought-provoking. Such a fun day. Many thanks to .dvm for allowing me to share his story of why “we listen, and we don’t judge”.

My mum sadly passed away very suddenly 2 years ago today. Last year I spent several months walking and running (slowly) to raise money for various charities in her memory. My attempt each month was £1 per kilometre. I managed to raise several hundred pounds for the charities, ran my first Scottish which has been my fastest 5km so far at 50mins 10 seconds.

To start 2026, I’m going to continue to run/walk minimum 50KM a month but this time, use it as preparation for in May.

I would love to say I’m running a marathon but no… this old, broken middled aged wifey is only going to manage the 5k! BUT the cut off is 45 minutes. So I have 5 months to shave 5 minutes or so off my PB.

I shall be fundraising for for this over the next 5 months. Mum and Dad bought ‘Raffles’ the dog from EDCH in the 80’s as a family dog. The money raised from Mum’s funeral two years ago when towards sponsorship of a pen there, and her name is on the Memory Wall.

My target is 250km at £1 a KM, 50KM a month. Donations welcome - but the target is for me, any extra is a bonus.

And even hubby is going to run with me in Edinburgh!

Miss you Mum

I’m on holiday…..

I’ve not slept for the last 2 nights, thanks to a snoring husband and nowhere to escape as in a one bedroom hotel room.

Long train journeys between Italian cities including delays….
