Here at Happy Bunnies, the girls led our Easter adventures by asking if we could explore lots of different parks. Following their interests, I created our very own β€œEaster Bunnies Play Park Adventures Map,” which included a variety of parks we regularly visit, alongside some new and exciting ones to discover.
This has been a fantastic success, with the girls showing great enthusiasm and excitement as we tick off each location on our map. Although we have only managed to visit a small percentage so far, the experience has been so positive that we will be continuing our park adventures even after the Easter break.
These outings have provided wonderful opportunities for the girls to enjoy the outdoors, develop their physical skills, and build confidence through active play. They have also encouraged decision-making, curiosity, and a sense of achievement as they take part in planning and reflecting on our adventures.
A fun, child-led experience that we are all looking forward to continuing!

Happy Bunnies Childminding 🐰🌸

Over the Easter period, the girls at Happy Bunnies enjoyed a wide range of fun, engaging, and educational activities that supported their learning and development across different areas.
We explored the meaning of Easter through a variety of stories and group discussions, helping the girls to build their understanding while encouraging listening and communication skills. The girls showed great interest in sharing their thoughts and making connections to their own experiences.
A range of themed activities supported early learning, including name recognition games where children confidently identified and matched their names. Our Easter egg alphabet hunt was a big success, promoting letter recognition in a fun and active way as the girls searched outdoors for hidden eggs.
We also incorporated numeracy into our play through coloured rice activities, where girls explored numbers, counting, and colour recognition using sensory play. This provided great opportunities for fine motor development and imaginative exploration.
Creativity was encouraged through Easter bonnet decorating and nature-inspired Easter crafts. The girls enjoyed using a variety of materials to design their own creations, showing individuality and pride in their work. Outdoor play was a key focus, where we made the most of the fresh air while decorating natural Easter eggs and engaging in group games with friends, supporting social skills, teamwork, and physical development.
Overall, the Easter activities were a wonderful balance of learning and fun. The girls were fully engaged, developed new skills, and built on existing knowledge through meaningful play experiences. It was lovely to see their confidence grow as they explored, created, and celebrated together. 🌼🐣

Focus: Health and Wellbeing – Keeping Our Bodies Healthy

This week at Happy Bunnies the girls have been exploring the topic of Health and Wellbeing, learning about how to keep our bodies healthy and strong. Through group discussions at the table, the girls talked about healthy foods, exercise, and ways we can look after our bodies.
We shared a variety of books related to health and wellbeing, encouraging the girls to ask questions and talk about what they already know. The girls also enjoyed completing jigsaws, which supported their problem-solving skills, concentration, and teamwork as they worked together.
Physical activity was a big part of our learning this week. The girls took part in exercise sessions and kids yoga, which proved to be a big hit. They enjoyed stretching, balancing, and copying different poses while practising breathing and relaxation. These activities supported the girls gross motor skills, balance, coordination, and body awareness.
It was lovely to see the girls actively engaged in conversations about their bodies and taking part in activities that support both physical health and emotional wellbeing.

Skills and Learning Observed:
Communication and language through discussions and storytelling
Problem solving and concentration through jigsaws
Gross motor development, balance, and coordination during exercise and yoga
Developing awareness of healthy lifestyles and self-care
The girls showed great enthusiasm throughout the week and especially enjoyed taking part in the kids yoga sessions, asking if we could do it again.

World Book Week Adventures

This week, we have been celebrating World Book Week. At my setting I promote a strong love for early reading through picture books, library visits and Bookbug sessions, so for us every day is a book day. Books are always displayed and easily accessible for the children so they can independently choose stories and explore them whenever they wish. πŸ“š
To make the week extra special, we took our story time outdoors, bringing along a variety of resources to help bring the stories to life. The children loved experiencing their favourite books through imaginative play and exploration in the fresh air.
Stories we enjoyed this week included Elmer the Colourful Elephant, The Colour Monster, Stick Man, We’re Going on a Bear Hunt, and The Three Billy Goats Gruff, Goldilocks and the three bears.
The girls had a fantastic week using their imagination and engaging deeply with the stories. Child 1 took the adventures very seriously, carefully searching under bridges for the troll from The Three Billy Goats Gruff and exploring the area while hunting for the bear from We’re Going on a Bear Hunt. She showed great enthusiasm and curiosity during the activities.
Child 2 enjoyed collecting sticks during our outdoor play and used them creatively to make her very own Stick Man, proudly linking the story to her play. Child 2 favourite was making mud porridge for Goldilocks.
The week has been full of fun, creativity and adventure, allowing the girls to explore stories in a meaningful and hands-on way while developing their imagination, language and love of books. πŸ“–βœ¨
Well done girls for such a wonderful week of storytelling and adventures! 🐰

🐰 Happy Bunnies Childminding Service 🐰

February has been a very full and memorable month here at Happy Bunnies. We enjoyed lots of fun activities, learning opportunities and outdoor adventures together. However, it was also a month of mixed emotions for us all, as one of our Happy Bunnies moved on to begin her next journey at nursery. While we are incredibly proud of her and excited for her new adventure, it also brought feelings of sadness as we said goodbye to a special member of our little group.
To help the children understand and explore these different emotions, we introduced activities around feelings and emotions, inspired by the story The Colour Monster. This topic gave the children the opportunity to talk about how they feel and recognise that it is okay to experience many different emotions.
Throughout the month we:
Read stories about feelings and emotions.
Took a visit to the library to borrow books that helped us explore different feelings.
Used colours to represent emotions, inspired by The Colour Monster.
Took part in creative activities where the children expressed their feelings through art and discussion.
Encouraged conversations about being happy, sad, excited and proud.
These experiences supported the children in developing their emotional awareness, communication skills and empathy for others. It also helped them understand the changes happening around them and express their own feelings in a safe and supportive environment.
Despite our goodbye, February was still filled with laughter, creativity and special moments together. As always at Happy Bunnies, we continue to support each child’s emotional wellbeing while creating a warm, nurturing environment where they feel safe, valued and listened to.
We wish our Happy Bunny all the very best on her new journey and know she will continue to shine. She will always be part of the Happy Bunnies family. 🐰✨

Happy Bunnies Childminding Service – January Highlights

January may have brought some challenging weather, but at Happy Bunnies we made the very most of it. The children enjoyed a wide range of learning experiences through different topics and their own individual interests.
We began the month exploring a Winter and Arctic theme. The children took part in hands-on activities including winter-themed tuff tray play, finger painting, sticking and gluing, and creating shape snowmen. These activities supported creativity, early maths skills and fine motor development.
The girls are at a fantastic age for turn-taking and rule-based play, so we enjoyed card games such as Polar Pairs and Build a Snowman, helping to develop concentration, memory and social skills. We also explored the seasons, talked about different types of weather, and practised sorting by size. Mark making in coloured winter rice was a favourite, encouraging early writing skills in a fun and sensory way.
Magnetic tiles are always popular, and we incorporated Arctic animals into this play to extend imagination, problem-solving and construction skills. Pencil control activities were offered throughout the month to further support early writing and hand strength.
Alongside our topic work, we enjoyed visits to local playgroups, meeting up with friends and developing confidence in social settings. We also went on woodland walks, taking part in Birdwatch 2026 by looking out for and talking about different birds in our local environment.
We finished January with an exciting trip to the Discovery Dome, which was a lovely way to round off a busy month full of curiosity, exploration and learning.

πŸ•·πŸŽƒπŸ‘»Happy Halloween πŸ‘»πŸŽƒπŸ•·

We enjoyed a variety of themed activities including sensory play trays, messy potion making, art and craft creations, and storytelling. Outdoor learning was a big success, with pumpkin and ghost hunts that promoted teamwork, problem-solving, and plenty of laughter along the way. Our trip to Barry Box Pumpkin Patch was a highlight of the topic β€” a fantastic day full of play, learning, and real-world experiences as the children explored pumpkins of all shapes and sizes and enjoyed the activities provided.

To end our topic, we celebrated with a spook-tacular Halloween party at playgroup, complete with costumes, fun, and party food. It was wonderful to see the children confident, excited, and interacting so positively with their friends.πŸ•·πŸŽƒπŸ‘»πŸ‘€β˜ οΈπŸ¦΄
