Ruby's Reading Room has officially begun the planning process for our Playful Pitchside Project at Dundee North End!

We're working on ideas to help transform the area into a fun, engaging space that encourages children and families to enjoy reading, creativity, nature and play alongside sport.

As we start bringing this project to life, we'd love to hear from anyone who would like to get involved. Whether you can offer your time, skills, ideas, materials, or simply help spread the word, every contribution makes a difference.

Together, we can create something really special for our community.

Ruby had a brilliant “business meeting” in school today with potential funders to explore creating a permanent Reading Room in the Glebelands Primary School community garden.

The vision is simple: a dedicated space where stories can spark imagination, calmness, creativity, and connection for children and families every day.

Today’s meeting felt like a real step toward making that chapter a reality.

Thank you to everyone supporting this growing literacy and wellbeing project — the story is only just beginning.

Today is Give Like Dolly Day, and Ruby wanted to share a message with everyone. She’s only six, but she knows how much Dolly Parton’s kindness has meant to children here in Dundee.

Ruby says she wants to “help Dolly’s books keep going,” and that’s exactly what Give Like Dolly Day is all about — celebrating Dolly’s incredible legacy and supporting the Imagination Library, which brings free books into the hands of children every single month.

At Ruby’s Reading Room, we see the magic these books create: confidence, imagination, cuddles at bedtime, and stories that stay with families forever. By supporting Give Like Dolly Day, you’re helping us keep that magic alive for children across our community.

A safe, creative, climate‑resilient space where children can read, imagine, and belong. Built with community, for community.

Project 2:
Ruby’s Reading Room Literacy Trail

A community‑designed outdoor trail that brings stories, nature, and wellbeing together. It gives families free, joyful ways to read, explore, and connect in local green spaces. An open-air story book!
