Our winner of the “best SSC” category is Dr Elinor Brabin. She has offered an SSC to the fifth years to spend time in palliative care. She paid a close attention to the student who did the SSC with her and she was supportive throughout the entire block.
Students who undertook the SSCs led by her, believe that they had a great time since Dr Barbin made sure students felt part of the team and she encouraged them to participate in ward rounds, discussions and practising skills on how to be a doctor and learning.

The runner-up for the Excellence in Teaching Award (Years 4-5) is Dr Trisha Chin!
Dr Chin developed a new teaching session on Health Inequalities, and brought fun and innovation to this important topic by developing a game. The session took dozens of hours to devise, and she ended up designing a board game style teaching session around the social determinants of health for a range of characters living with diabetes. This session has delivered this to all Year 2 students within the Endocrine block, with positive feedback.
Thank you for all your incredible work!

The winner of the Excellence in Teaching Award (Years 4-5) is Dr Sarah Allstaff!
Dr Allstaff stood out as one of the best members of teaching staff during the Sexual Health and Repro block. She is fantastic at incorporating humour and light-heartedness into her lectures which is great for engaging her younger audience. As lead of sexual health week, she had a good awareness that sexual health week may prove difficult for some students and offered great advice for those who may have felt worried or anxious about the content covered.
Thank you for all your wonderful work!

Dr Khogali really brightens up the lecture theatre; he always takes the time to make sure his students understand the content and has done really well in doing so for the start of our systems block. He always takes the time to give a detailed account of everything he is teaching to ensure his students can follow along. He is also an approachable and friendly lecturer, making students look forward to his lectures. He puts so much time and effort into teaching and is a fantastic lecturer and mentor for the Cardiovascular block.

The winner of the Excellence in Teaching Award (Years 1-3) is Dr Sudhir Tauro!
The effort and time spent planning and delivering the FoM1 and FoM2 system blocks is a great example of his dedication to students to make sessions more interactive, from weekly video overviews to real life patient history and scenarios delivered by the patients themselves. Dr Tauro has always been available to the medical school office staff and TILT team when planning the timetables and content in MBChB Moodle (the new student learning site) and he has a real passion for teaching, with a modern approach that engages students.
Thank you for all your fantastic work!
