As part of yesterday's Play day 2026, 0ur team at Flexible Childcare Services Dundee created a local community map to help children and families to find new areas to explore and play.

The map highlights some of the wonderful natural spaces, landmarks and points of interest that can be found right on their doorstep, encouraging children to discover that play really is here, there and everywhere!

Playday 2026 - Here, There and Everywhere!

Today is Playday, the national day for play! It's a chance to celebrate the joy, fun and importance of play in children's lives and to recognise all the wonderful ways children learn, grow and connect through playing every day.

This year's theme, "Here, There and Everywhere", reminds us that play can happen anywhere. Whether it's in the garden, at the park, on a walk to school, in the living room or exploring the local community, every place has the potential for adventure, imagination and discovery. When children are given opportunities to play in everyday spaces, it helps them build confidence, develop new skills and create happy memories.

To celebrate Playday, we have created a local community map showcasing places for our children to explore and play, including Finlathen Park, Trottick Ponds and the Dighty Burn. The map highlights some of the wonderful natural spaces, landmarks and points of interest that can be found right on our doorstep, encouraging children to discover that play really is here, there and everywhere!

Keep a look out for our children out and about today as they explore, play, learn and enjoy all that our local community has to offer.
