What's new for 2026

Longsword - Attendance cap has been increased to 96 and we will be doing an A/B split.

Sabre - We have decided to drop single stick and have brought in steel sabre for 2026, this will be for both Open and URG sabre.

We will also have a couple of rules changes that we will announce shortly.

Team IHA at Glasgow HEMA Open day 2/2

We didn't get a chance for another team photo, but most of us were back for more swords!

In Open Messer, we had Nick, Stuart, and James competing and all make it to the quarter finals before we had to start fighting each other. In the end, James managed to take the Gold medal and Stuart finished in 4th place

In Open Sabre, we had Nick, Stuart, James, and Szymon competing. The pools were very tough, and the eliminations went straight to quarter finals so only James and Nick made the cut. James finished with the Silver medal

Everyone made it to the top 16 eliminations, with Szymon and James making it all the way to the Gold medal match (which James won, after a very fun bout)

Szymon also won the Sportsmanship Award, and James the Technical Award

Our instructor Mark Wilkie was able to take the Gold in Longsword A in a close match with our close friend .

He was also able to take the bronze in Sabre A against the ever impressive Tom Crickmore.

This past weekend our instructor Mark Wilkie was teaching at Hemafest hosted by

The class was on tactics and timing using a 4 stage drill that evolves on itself.

Hemafest is an amazing event, the classes were varied and the caliber of instruction was super high along with the level of fencing In sparring. Needless to say team IHA is already looking forward to next year!

Last weekend our instructor Mark Wilkie was at Fight Camp teaching a class on Distance, Timing and Tactics.

Even through the blazing sun the class was well attended.

Mark will be attending Hemafest at the end of the month to teach another class and will be running PT's throughout the weekend.
