Congratulations to Dr Muhammad Ahmed Saeed, PhD on winning the Digital Health & Care Innovation Centre (DHI) Award at the 2026 Converge Awards👏

Ahmed's award-winning project, Bottleneck Explorer, is helping healthcare teams better understand patient demand, identify system pressures and make more informed decisions about service delivery.

Developed through collaboration between healthcare, design and data researchers, and co-designed with NHS staff, the tool demonstrates how innovative research can help tackle real-world challenges and improve outcomes across the NHS.

Well done, Ahmed, and everyone involved in the project.

Humanities research comes to life in Dundee this November as Abertay University and the University of Dundee hosts two free events as part of Being Human Festival 2026.

Taking place at CoSTAR Realtime Lab at Water's Edge, the events will explore the connections between storytelling, games, comics, screenwriting and emerging technologies through engaging discussions and creative activities.

One event will feature the launch of a free comic showcasing work from staff and students across Dundee, including contributions from Abertay colleagues, while the second brings together experts to discuss writing for the screen in the 21st century.

Being Human Festival is the UK's national festival of the humanities, with more than 230 events taking place in 38 towns and cities from 5 to 14 November.

More than 50 pupils from schools across Tayside got hands-on with the future of technology at Abertay University as part of the 2026 Ada Scotland Festival 🎮

From practical workshops and industry talks to a careers fair and conversations with current students, the Dundee Schools Hub Games and Cyber Day gave pupils the chance to explore the many routes into games, computing and cyber security.

The event is part of our work to encourage greater diversity in technology, helping young people build confidence, explore new possibilities and see a future for themselves in the sector.

From Dundee to the international stage 🌍⚽

Abertay graduate Kurt Herd is making headlines after becoming manager of Dominica's national men's football team, making him the only Scot currently in charge of an international men's side.

After leaving Abertay and heading to Australia to begin his coaching career, Kurt's path has taken him across the globe. Today, he's leading a national team more than 4,000 miles from home.

BBC Sport Scotland recently caught up with Kurt to discuss his career and the challenges of managing a national side as Dominica look to climb the international rankings.

A big moment today as we announce Dundee-born entrepreneur, business leader, media executive, author Mike Soutar is to be appointed the next Chancellor of Abertay University.

Mike returned to his home city to visit our campus, meet colleagues and learn more about Abertay’s work across areas including computer games, creative technologies, food innovation and sport and exercise science.

Known globally as a star of the BBC's The Apprentice, Mike will become the University’s ceremonial head and ambassador from November, helping us champion our students, staff and impact in Dundee, Scotland and beyond.
