Sound on for this behind the scenes.
I am usually laughing hard when we travel because we sing, we laugh, we put on accents, and point at things all day long.
This is Al’s drunken Rab C Nesbit persona, sometimes coherent, sometimes not. 😂😂
All while I’m trying to balance on roots!

In The Name Of Love
A couple of weeks ago, in line with my anniversary, I shared my engagement video. Mostly because it moves me and I am so grateful that I was able to create such a gesture for us to cherish.
But, every year the comments on the video get worse. Rather than telling me to not read the comments or to turn a blind eye, I want you to reflect on whether that same hatred and condemnation falls on your door regularly, and whether you would have the tenacity to continue to exist publicly.
We recently finished watching Tip Toe by with Alan Cu***ng and it was harrowing to watch, and not because it seemed like a stretch, but because it feels exactly how it is right now.
The fear. The hate. The entitlement to sound off.
The algorithm feed the hate and it replicates.
It connects the haters with each other. I’ve got hateful comments being encouraged by other commenters.
But the system online will show them more love, and they will corrupt it. They will poison it.
We hold hands less in public.
We second guess our love.
I want you to stop and think if you have ever had to do that. To my straight audience, in some instances we even have to defer or lie about who we are to each other. It betrays my heart but safety is at the essence of it. I don’t see it.
We have experienced hate a lot. We have been chased by people in the cars. I’ve received more death threats than I care to admit. Reporting online abuse does nothing as the community standards are so low.
We thought the next generation would come up brighter but their phones are radicalising them and celebrating their hatred. People publicly post with no fear of retribution.
I dread what this post will do online.
It’s pride month. People will shout about “why do we even need it?”
If I’m scared, how do you think younger people feel? People in less of a privileged position?
If you see something, call it out.
If you love anyone in your life that is LGBTQI+, check in on them.
This isn’t an ask for special treatment. We want to fall asleep with a cup of tea and a biscuit and be anything but shiny and extraordinary. But that doesn’t feel easy right now.
Be with us.

It’s is 7 years today since I jumped off the float at Washington DC Pride and proposed to my now husband. He was 5 days post emergency surgery, I didn’t know if he would be able to walk in the parade. But he pulled his kilt socks up and soldiered on to a memory we will both share until the end of our days.
Happy Pride 🌈🎉
