This exercise is highly demanding, requiring advanced 4-way independence. Beyond mastering the technical aspects, Malcolm brought his own musicality to the table by adding personal fills and interpretations.

Teaching students to find their own voice is always my primary goal, and it is incredibly rewarding to see the final result come together like this. 👍👏 🥁

Over the last few weeks, my students have been crushing some advanced bass drum techniques. We’ve been diving deep into:
• 16th-note bass drum placements to lock in those off-beat grooves
• 32nd and 64th-note double kick techniques for explosive speed and control. Check out the video below to see the double kick technique in action! 🎥

The secret to these patterns is building muscle memory first. Once you lock the technique down, you can start experimenting with different beat placements and pushing your creative boundaries.

I am so excited to share that I will be attending Virgil Donati's drum camp in June. This will be such a unique experience with the beautiful location set in the hills of Tuscany, Italy.
