Stick Grabs and Spins! 🥁

Last week in lessons I was teaching a lot of double kick techniques. Next week I will be going through some showmanship ideas for visual effect and fun. 😄

It’s hard to believe it’s already been 3 months since I got back from the Virgil Donati Drum Camp in Tuscany, Italy! 🇮🇹🥁

I shared a few photos right after the trip, but so many incredible shots have been added since by other attendees and the professional photographer on-site. I put together this mini-collage to capture a bit more of the experience. There are literally hundreds of photos and videos to sort through, and diving into my own footage is definitely the next job on my list!

Since the camp, I’ve been consistently working through the exercises Virgil showed us and trying to incorporate them into my playing. Hopefully, I'll be recording and sharing a few short videos soon! 🚀✍️

When I was in Portugal last week, I walked past the famous Lello Bookstore and stumbled upon the iconic "Bird Man" and his musical chickens! 🐓
The instrument is very unique — It uses a hand-cranked paper roll system, and the birds just chill on his lap. As he pets them, they cluck perfectly in time. 🎶 So bizarre, but such a magical, quirky little moment! 🇵🇹✨

Thank you so much for the review and recommendation, Brian! It is really great to hear how much you get out of your drum lessons and drumming in general. 🥁

When you start learning something for your own personal growth and never comparing yourself to others, you get so much more out of the experience. You are never too old to learn something new! You don't have to be the best drummer in the world; you can do it purely for your own personal journey and fulfillment.

Brilliant! Thanks again, Brian. 👍 😄

Incredible to see my former students progressing, pursuing their music seriously, and moving up to the next level by studying at university! 🎸🥁

I had the privilege of teaching Elie for over six years. We started on drums and later moved on to guitar as well. He practiced constantly, started writing his own songs, and even formed his own bands. It has been fantastic to witness his incredible progress, which includes achieving his graded drum certificates.

So proud of your hard work, Elie! Can't wait to see where your musical journey takes you next. ✨

I hope everyone has had a great summer break and is ready to get back to it next week!

I opened up a few lesson spaces over the holidays and would love to give a warm welcome to all my new students starting this term.

I still have a few daytime spaces available during the week. These could be perfect for retirees, adults, shift workers, or homeschooled children. Just drop me a message if you are interested or have any questions. Thank you! — Ross
