🚨 Students and Affiliates of the University of Dundee 🚨

I have today signed this open letter as I oppose the merger plans forwarded by the University Executive Group (UEG).

Staff, students, and our local community all deserve better, especially during this a time of great damage to our local and national economies, and at a time when expert knowledge and research is so roundly dismissed on social media by mis/disinformation campaigns.

I urge all who have a stake in our university to consider this letter, and to sign it if they so wish. Please share this post to get as many signatures as possible!

Hi everyone!

The next student that we will hear from is Ross Laird, who says this:

“Why am i against the 'Walker-Geddes' Merger?

• It unnecessarily endangers the jobs of many administrative support staff at a time when staff are already overworked and stretched thin.

• This project has been rushed through without careful planning and assesment.

• Students have not been properly consulted and the University is withholding important details relating to the proposal. There are also inconsistencies in the Universities Communicatuons regarding the merger.

• It undermines and is detrimental to the overall prestige of our University.”

Hi everyone!

The first student that we will hear from is Jazmine Bennett who has the following to say:

“I've put together this short video with my thoughts on the proposed school merger and some of my concerns surrounding this. I'm addressing concerns that senior management just seem to be avoiding. Please take a few minutes to watch and share with anyone who might be interested. If you're interested in the Humanities, the future of the university, or both you should be paying attention to what's happening!!”

Hi everyone!

Some students wrote an Open Letter to DUSA, urging them to oppose the proposed mergers. DUSA have since come out and said that they would oppose the plans, however we are still taking signatures to ensure that as many student voices are heard as possible.

Hi everyone!

We have created this page to oppose the proposed merger of our three invaluable academic schools: The School of Education and Social Work, the School of Humanities, and the School of Social Sciences. This decision is supposedly in attempt to address the University’s deficit and we fundamentally oppose the merger.

Over the next few days we will be posting more on why we disagree with the proposals, we will discuss the proposals, and we will be publishing student testimonies.
