Great visits from all five Primary 4 Dunbar Primary School classes today to West barns Arts. 20 third year students from Edinburgh College of Art at the University of Edinburgh worked with them on a collaborative project that took place in November. The resulting exhibition 'Playground' is open to everyone this weekend from 11 - 4 on both Saturday and Sunday. Please drop by! Everyone is very welcome.🙂

As promised here are the photos from AIR Primary 3 Dunbar. Liz Adamson worked with 5 classes as they threw themselves into their day long workshops with enthusiasm and lots of effort. They learned about Grotte de Lascaux, discovered by teenager Marcel and his dog Robot. They also discussed conservation so a bit of science came into it too. They're a bright bunch. They worked with all forms of charcoal ( pencils, compressed and willow) chalk pastels and oil pastels. They also scratched out petroglyphs, drew on their backs, under their desks and generally had a blast! The results were wonderful, imaginative and 'signed' using their hands, just like the 30,000 year old hand print from Chauvet! Somethings never change. Liz would like to say a big thank you also to the terrific staff at Dunbar Primary School.

LIz Adamson and Susan Mowatt have just finished a second year as Artists in Residence after being invited back to Dunbar Primary School. They have totally loved working with 300 pupils over five days. Liz worked with P3 classes, looking at the Lascaux cave paintings and petroglyphs and Susan worked with P6 on a variety of different projects including weaving, felt making, shoe design and construction, large scale cut outs and a video about Alexander Graham Bell. Here is a selection of some images and hopefully other under-the-desk drawings of mammoths using locally sourced pigment will follow. 🙂🙂
