Form 1 Leadership development night and day:
Last night after supper we were delighted to welcome two OBs to speak to Form 1 about being school leaders. Henry and Eliza left Belhaven in 2021 and have just returned to Loretto School as Head Boy and Prefect! Thank you so much Henry and Eliza for sharing your experiences and inspiring our Form 1s.
Today the children’s teamwork, communication, problem-solving and leadership skills were tested as they worked together in their patrols to tackle five challenging tasks…
Mountain Rescue: transporting food and water from one side of a crocodile-infested river to the other using a teapot, a rope and a tripod.
Blindfolded Tent Challenge: constructing a tent against the clock, with just one sighted leader guiding the team.
Two-Minute Lecture: preparing and delivering a two-minute talk on a completely unseen topic. No preparation!
The Engineers’ Challenge: working together to move water through an “electrified” swamp using bungee cords and containers, without stepping into the marked area or using their hands.
The Tyre Challenge: transporting a stack of five tyres from one location to another, keeping the largest tyre at the bottom and with only one drop-off point allowed.
A brilliant day of teamwork, leadership and lateral thinking, and a super way for Form 1 to start the new school year before helping the younger boarders move their trunks and settle in.
Great work Form 1!
