World book day fun all week this week. Ten little pirates dress up fun with lots of treasure to be found, making marmalade sandwiches for Paddington, creating fun pictures with the veg from supertato, learning about Ramadan and tea bag scented water play and making cakes for that tiger that came to tea 📚 plus lots of stories read.

Children in Scotland usually start school between the ages of 4 years 6 months and 5 years 6 months old. All children who are 4 years old at the start of the school year can defer and start primary one the following year.

Parents/carers are asked to attend their catchment school to request a place at either their catchment school or a non-catchment school for their child(ren). Parents/carers are required to bring along proof of address and the child’s date of birth and baptismal certificate/supporting letter (for Roman Catholic schools only), between Monday 2 February and Friday 6 February.

Details of catchment schools can be found at https://www.dumfriesandgalloway.gov.uk/schools-learning/schools/primary-schools/primary-school-place. Enrolment by the appropriate date is particularly important in light of the legislation regarding parents' choice of school to be attended.

Parent/carers will receive a letter and registration form for children due to start funded Early Learning Childcare (ELC) in academic year August 2026 to July 2027.
Parent/carers of children who already attend funded ELC will be contacted by their current provider.
