Dumfries & Galloway College Student Association We are here to represent students at D&G College, and to provide the best possible student experience

12/06/2026

As I step down from my role with the Student Association today, I want to take a moment to say thank you.

It has been a privilege to represent and work alongside such an incredible student community. To every student who shared their ideas, concerns, and experiences with us – thank you for trusting us to be your voice and for helping shape positive change across the college.

To the Student Association team, Class Representatives, student volunteers, college staff, and partners who have supported our work, thank you for your dedication, encouragement, and commitment to improving the student experience. Everything we achieved was made possible through collaboration and a shared passion for supporting students.

I am incredibly proud of what we have accomplished together, from championing student wellbeing and inclusion to creating opportunities for students to have their voices heard. The friendships, experiences, and memories I have gained during this time will stay with me for years to come.

While I am saying goodbye to this role, I know the Student Association will continue to go from strength to strength, and I wish the incoming team every success for the future.

Thank you for allowing me to be part of your journey.

With gratitude and best wishes,

Honor Gibson
Student Association President

🎉 Meet Your Student Association Team for 2026/27! 🎉

The 25/26 Student Association would like you to meet the students who will be taking the reins for the 2026/27 academic year!

These dedicated representatives will be working hard to ensure that student voices are heard, positive change continues to happen across the college, and that every student has the opportunity to make the most of their college experience.

Over the coming year, they'll be championing student interests, supporting clubs and activities, and helping to create an inclusive, welcoming, and vibrant college community.

Please join us in congratulating our new team as they prepare to take on their new roles in August and represent students throughout 2026/27.

👏 We can't wait to see what they'll achieve!

Mental Health May Initiative is still going strong! 💚

There has been so much engagement with students, staff, and even those outwith the college. It’s been so busy that I even forgot to do a post last week - so here’s a roundup of the last two weeks of activities brought to you by Youth Work D&G, D&G College Active Campus, and ourselves! 👏

✨ Sugar Shock – How much sugar is really in your energy drink?
We explored the sugar content in popular energy drinks while making smoothies with students to compare what goes into them and the healthier alternatives available.

🐶 Therapets – Another successful visit from the doggies! Therapet
The Therapets were a huge hit once again, even getting members of the Executive Leadership Team down for some lunchtime cuddles.

🌱 ELVES CIC Outdoor Activities ELVES CIC
The team from ELVES CIC joined us for outdoor wellbeing activities where students and staff made their own bonsai trees from saplings and learned how to care for them.

🎲 Grimdark Gamers Grimdark Gamers of Galloway
Members of Grimdark Gamers shared feedback on how being part of the group positively supports their mental health and wellbeing.

💭 Wall of Gratitude
Students and staff shared what they are most grateful for, creating a wonderful display of positivity across the college.

🪣 The Worry Bucket
Students and staff wrote down their worries and threw them into the bucket as a symbolic way of letting go and wishing for things to get better.

🚶‍♀️ Sponsored Walk
Student President Honor took part in a sponsored walk to raise money for the Student Association, raising just over £100!
The walk provided a chance to feel grounded, enjoy the fresh air, and even encouraged her daughter to step away from her phone and enjoy the outdoors too. 🌿

A massive thank you to everyone who has taken part, supported activities, and helped make Mental Health May such a success so far! 💚
