Children in Scotland usually start school between the ages of 4 years 6 months and 5 years 6 months old. All children who are 4 years old at the start of the school year can defer and start primary one the following year.

Parents/carers are asked to attend their catchment school to request a place at either their catchment school or a non-catchment school for their child(ren). Parents/carers are required to bring along proof of address and the child’s date of birth and baptismal certificate/supporting letter (for Roman Catholic schools only), between Monday 2 February and Friday 6 February.

Details of catchment schools can be found at https://www.dumfriesandgalloway.gov.uk/schools-learning/schools/primary-schools/primary-school-place. Enrolment by the appropriate date is particularly important in light of the legislation regarding parents' choice of school to be attended.

Hi everyone, on the mooch again 🙈 The children at Maxplay 2 love building with the Mobilo but sadly due to it being very well used we dont have as many pieces as we would like. If anyone has any they would be willing to give us it would be very much appreciated ❤️ xx

At MaxPlay, our Mini Investigators have been learning about the Gruffalo.

During this project we have:
🐭 explored a variety of sensory activities
🦊 learned about the animals from the story, the sounds they make and their habitats
🐍 collected apples from our Orchard and made our own Gruffalo Crumble
🦉 made masks of our favourite character to wear to our Party!

What a busy start of the term we have had here at Maxplay2.

We have been learning all about people who help us and have been lucky enough to have the chance to visit the Ewart library (Lizzy) , Morrisons (Myra) and NWCC school(Mr Malin) and would like to thank all involved in making these visits a success especially those named above ❤️.

We have also had the wonderful Stuart Robb here to introduce first aid to our children, PC Rebecca McClung our new community warden and the Fire Brigage who all came to visit and talk to the children about their roles in the community 🚒🚓🛒 xx
