Amazing achievement Amy - BIG congratulations from the team. We are so lucky to have one of our own 'KinderKids' back with us as a student and now, a practitioner!! And also lucky we have her mother too still, from day dot! (Claire). Thanks to Qualitas for providing her training 🙂 xx

Congratulations ⭐️ to Amy McKie on completing her Social Services Children and Young People award at SCQF Level 7. Amy works as a nursery practitioner at Kinderhouse Childcare Nursery in Dumfries. Amy is an early achiever and we’re so proud of her . Well done Amy 👏🎉🥳

Happy Rabbie Burns Day. We'll be enjoying a Burns supper for lunch tomorrow. We've been learning Scottish songs like 'Three Craws Sat Upon a 'Wa', and 'Ye canny shove yer grannie aff a bus' and as it's also the Big Bird Watch weekend (hope you all spotted many) we've also been learning all about our local garden birds, and bird songs. You can wear tartan/check tomorrow if you have any and we'll have a wee bit more Ceilidh dancing. Sound like fun :)

Here is little Robbie (or maybe Robina!) Red Breast. He lives in our garden and comes most days to visit us. He is quite tame though he doesn't yet eat from our hands but he does get very close and gets excited when we are outdoors.

We've had such fun in the run up to Christmas with making decorations, singing songs, playing the chime bars, learning about the Christmas story, and our parties.

We love wild life and will be taking part in the BIG Bird Watch in January 2026.

As well as our Christmas songs, we've been singing 'When the Red, Red Robin Comes Bob, Bob, Bobbing Along🎼🎹🎼

Our St. Andrew's Day celebrations......................we've been learning about Scottish food and made porridge, cock-a-leekie soup, tattie scones and shortbread. We had a ceilidh and learned the Sword Dance. We made tartan pictures and sang Scottish songs - 'Wee Wullie Winkie', 'Canny shove yer grannie aff a bus', and 'Coulter's Candy'. We also made a collage of 'Hands Around the World' to show we are a multicultural country and welcome people from other lands to visit or live in Scotland.
A wee Robin (Robbie) lives in our garden and comes into the nursery too. He was watching us dancing today and fair enjoyed our party :)

We've had a great week celebrating Halloween with parties; dressing up; spooky stories, songs and rhymes; carving pumpkins, spider playdough; pin-the-tail-on-the-cat, pass the parcel; dooking for apples; and making spiders and pumpkins masks. We hid in the haunted house from the old witch Lizzie!! We also had a visit from Zoolab with their spiders, gerbils, stick insects, snakes, a giant snail and a tortoise (yuk)......... pics to follow. Happy Halloween xx

Good luck to all our fabulous P1s starting school tomorrow. We'll miss your wee faces, your contributions and your sheer excitement for exploration, experiments and experiences. You've grown to be wonderful KinderKids and we've loved having you with us.
