Have you ever wanted to know more about bats and learn how to help them?

We're teaming up with Loch Lomond Bat Group (LLBG) and will be spending 26th September at making some bat boxes and chatting all things bat. Why not pop by - help us build a box or just learn a bit more about our night-time neighbors in nature.

Did you know the Royal Society of Biology is celebrating Biology week 8-18 October 2026

They've got some great resources looking at lots of different aspects of biology including some easy experiments to see how butterflies drink, and why slugs and snails need slime as well as lots of other ideas.

Some of the group linked in with groups from across the Outdoor and Woodland Learning Scotland network over the weekend. Lots of great chat, idea sharing and new skills learnt - including spoon carving, natural cordage, numeracy outdoors and willow weaving.

The nationwide network events are open to all - perhaps we'll see you at the next one, which is a winter weekend towards the end of February 2027. WD OWL group members will be some of the first to know so sign up as a free member to get the details and opportunity to book a space before anyone else!

Starting the new term with nature: free lessons and webinars to help your school become a sustainable learning setting
As you settle into the new term, curriculum improvement, Learning for Sustainability, and outdoor learning may be on your mind, so NatureScot wanted to share something that might make things a little easier this year.
There’s a new set of easy and exciting lesson plans and teacher webinars, all built around an innovative and flexible resource, the Nature Discovery Map Scotland (NDMS).
What's on offer
The webinar programme runs from September through to November, and includes sessions such as:
