The Cabin

The Cabin The Committee hold regular meetings (every 4-6 weeks approx.) to which all parents are invited.

The Cabin is a Community Group that is owned and managed by the parents of the children on the Register, and is in Partnership with The Moray Childcare Partnership andThe Moray Council. Representatives of the parents are elected to a Committee to serve as office bearers, who oversee the day-to-day running of the Centre and are the employers of the staff. Your views are welcomed on such matters as

ideas for outings, new equipment, fundraising, play ideas etc. In August 2013 we changed our name from Dufftown Preschool Centre to The Cabin to promote our position of providing 2s group, nursery and out of school care. The Group is registered with The Scottish Commission for The Regulation Of Care
(Social Care Social Work Improvement Scotland) and is a member of Care and learning Alliance. At the moment The Cabin consists of

β€’ Nursery (Monday to Friday 8.50-2.50)

Aims and objectives

1. Provide a safe, clean, well-organised environment which gives children the opportunity to learn and become independent within a well structured group.
2. Enable parents/guardians to continue in their employment confident in the knowledge that their children are being cared for in the way that they would wish.
3. Maintain good quality care providing a wide and varied range of activities.
4. Ensure that our equal opportunities policy is put into practice at all times.
5. Identify and provide relevant training for staff, including that required to meet SSSC requirements
6. Respect and involve parents in the care and education of their child. The Centre offers a wide range of play activities to the children at each session. Allowing the children to participate in many play activities and learning experiences, giving them help and encouragement along the way will achieve the aims

The Cabin recognizes that all children and adults are different with differing needs and abilities, but all are equally valuable. The group aims to allow everyone to reach their full potential, free from attitudes that would limit development. We hope to achieve this by ensuring the play environment and play activities are non-discriminatory and provide positive images of all the children and adults living in our society.

How are we finding ourselves at the end of Term 4 and another busy school year?! This term has really been the quickest, once again filled with lots of fun-filled adventures!

We returned after the Easter break to a fantastic new outdoor shelter. This has been a huge benefit to us, giving us some much-needed cover from the rain. We really are an outdoorsy bunch, so this has been a great way for us to be able to stay outside during all weathers 😊🐣

We continue to build our strengths within the community and are always looking for different ways to do so. We had a lovely visit from one of the children's grannies, where she delivered a great gardening session. The children really enjoyed planting their own seeds and were really proud of their gardening work. 🌸

The children enjoyed something a little different this term. The ladies from the ball group kindly sent the children an invitation to spend the morning with them. We took part in lots of different activities and had such a great time!! It's great to see the children engaging with different generations. πŸ€

This term, we introduced Special Guest time, inviting parents, carers, grandparents, aunties, uncles, and other family members to spend time with the children. Guests have shared stories, hobbies, musical talents and special interests, creating wonderful learning experiences for everyone involved. This has been a huge success with visitors, including teachers from other schools. We have also had the opportunity to share our special guest time with children and staff at Mortlach Primary School, further strengthening links within our wider school community. πŸ“–πŸŽΈπŸ§—

We have some very talented people within our Cabin family. One of our Cabin parents kindly made us this amazing new train that sits at the front of The Cabin. The children get lots of enjoyment from this during wheeled toys sessions and also when waiting to enter The Cabin in the morning. We love it and we are so grateful to the parent who made this for us πŸš„

This term marked the return of our weekly swimming sessions, which are always a huge success with the children. We feel very lucky to be able to offer them this opportunity. The swimming sessions ran over six weeks and this term we also included visits to Aberlour Nursery. It was wonderful to see the children building friendships and interacting confidently with children from another setting. They represented our nursery well during these visits and thoroughly enjoyed sharing snack time together. 🏊
We then invited Aberlour Nursery to visit us and share a session together. The children had a fantastic time taking part in a wheeled toys session. We finished off our session with a picnic lunch, which everyone really enjoyed.🏫🚲

We held our annual Sports Day and what a fantastic afternoon it was, everyone took part and demonstrated excellent responsibility. A huge thank you to all our families who came along to cheer us on. We also loved seeing so many parents joining in the parents race, it really was the best afternoon 😊 πŸƒβ€βž‘οΈπŸƒβ€β™€οΈβ€βž‘οΈπŸ‘Ÿ

We were also delighted to be invited to join Mortlach Primary School in their sports day. The children represented The Cabin wonderfully, showing great respect! They took part in all the races and had an amazing time. A huge thank you to Mortlach Primary School for welcoming us and allowing us to share in such a fantastic day. We really enjoyed being part of it.πŸ…πŸƒβ€β™€οΈβ€βž‘οΈπŸƒβ€βž‘οΈπŸƒβ€βž‘οΈ

We decided to hop on the local service bus to Aberlour to check out their new playpark and it was fantastic! We started our adventure with snack at the Aberlour Tea Rooms before heading to the park.
What an incredible playpark it is!. The children had a great time, and so did the adults πŸ˜€ Even the rain couldn't dampen the spirits. We had such a great time. πŸŒˆπŸ›πŸšŒ

We are so lucky to have such an amazing committee. They treated all of our children and staff to a delicious ice cream from the visiting ice cream van and it certainly brought lots of smiles to everyone's day 😊
A huge thank you to our wonderful committee πŸ₯° 🍦
Our final Woodland Wednesday session of this school year saw all of the children visit our outdoor classroom up at Megs Widd. It was a wonderful way to celebrate a fantastic year of outdoor learning and adventure. πŸͺ΅πŸŒ³
We were delighted to be joined by Melissa Irvine Photography, who captured beautiful photographs of the children as they enjoyed one of their favourite places. πŸ“·
πŸ€— We had the most wonderful time celebrating graduation with our Oak families. What a beautiful day it was!
The last few days have been filled with so many emotions as we prepare to say goodbye to our Oaks. We are so incredibly proud of each and every one of them and all they have achieved during their time with us at The Cabin.πŸ‘
While we will miss them so much, we know they are more than ready for this exciting new chapter at school. We wish them all the happiness, confidence, and success as they begin their new adventures.
We had a fun-filled morning packed with lots of games and special memories as we celebrated. It was also a very exciting day for our Acorns, who proudly graduated into Oaks!Thank you to everyone who celebrated with us and congratulations to all of our Oaks and Acorns on their graduation πŸ₯°
Our final day of the year was spent at Byres Farm and it was the perfect way to make some special memories together πŸ₯° We had so much fun exploring all the play equipment there is so much to do! One of our favourite parts was feeding the animals. Such a lovely day to end the year together. ❀️
