We are thrilled to welcome our children back to a refreshed and inspiring environment!

Each of our learning areas has been enhanced with brand-new resources ordered by Mrs Hale, all ready for the start of September.

Our management team has put together a rich Autumn curriculum, and our practitioners are hard at work preparing exciting learning activities and advancing their professional qualifications.

During lunchtime, Beth will be carrying her role as Best Supervisor bringing the warmth, care, and dedication your children know and love.

As the 6 weeks holiday draws to a close, we know parents are ready for routine, and we are equally excited to launch into a fantastic term.

Playing with sand in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) supports a child's holistic development across multiple core areas of learning, including physical, sensory, and social growth.

Physical Development
Fine motor skills: Scooping, pouring, sifting, and moulding sand builds hand strength, finger dexterity, and hand-eye coordination. These precise movements prepare small hands for holding pencils and writing.
Gross motor skills: Lifting heavy buckets, carrying wet sand, digging, and pushing wheelbarrows help develop larger muscle groups, balance, and physical stamina.

Sensory and Cognitive Exploration
Sensory integration: Feeling the grainy texture, noticing temperatures, and experiencing sand running through fingers stimulates tactile and spatial awareness.
Early math and science: Measuring, weighing, and filling containers introduce volume, capacity, and weight. Mixing wet sand introduces basic scientific concepts like cause, effect, and changing states of matter.

Communication and Social Skills
Language expansion: Describing textures, asking questions, and talking about creations introduce new vocabulary and conversational phrases.
Collaboration: Sharing a sand tray or pit encourages teamwork, turn-taking, negotiating roles, and resolving conflicts with peers.

Emotional Well-being and Creativity
Calming effect: The repetitive, open-ended nature of manipulating sand can have a soothing, therapeutic effect on young children.
Imagination: Sand serves as a blank canvas where children can invent stories, construct landscapes, and engage in creative role-play.

Key Benefits Across the EYFS Framework

Physical Development: Lifting, balancing, and connecting long pipes builds gross motor strength and core stability. Manipulating small toy cars and positioning couplers refines fine motor control and hand-eye coordination.
