🍂✨ Our weekly round up ✨🍂

From soft play adventures, to starting our brand-new sports curriculum with Midland Futsal Academy, welcoming the arrival of Autumn, sharing stories, creating with playdough, enjoying lots of garden fun and finishing our week with a lovely trip to Play-tropolis alongside our friends at Flower Tots Childminding , we have had a wonderful week. 🩷

And just like that, we close our doors at 6pm today before The Flower Cottage closes for a two-week break. ☀️

We’ll be back open and ready for more adventures on Monday 21st September. 🍁

Of course, the work doesn’t completely stop when the doors close😅. Before I head off on holiday, I’ll still be doing plenty behind the scenes, catching up on admin, answering queries, completing assignments, organising the setting and making sure everything is ready for our reopening.

But this time, I’m really going to try and switch off.

I haven’t had a proper break this year yet.. every bank holiday or any form of closure seems to have been consumed by work, and after everything that has happened over the last few months, I think I’m finally ready to just pause and most importantly, to recharge those very tired batteries.

Sometimes we really do need to give ourselves permission to step away for a little while. The work will still be there when we return.

So, here’s to two weeks of slowing down, switching off (or at least trying too once I’ve finished a few jobs next week!😂) and filling our cups again.

🍊🍋🍋‍🟩 Fruit tea! 🫖

A simple water tray activity in the garden this morning, using oranges, lemons, limes and a few drops of food colouring. Add buckets, cauldrons, utensils and jugs, and let those little imaginations take over! Simple, open-ended play, full of sensory exploration, language and lots of fun. 🤎🍂

Ever wondered how to get all of your children involved, give them a little helping hand around the setting AND keep them entertained for ages?

Car wash every time! 🧽

A bucket of bubbly water, some sponges and a few very enthusiastic little helpers… and you’ve got an activity that keeps everyone busy, encourages teamwork and gives those little muscles a proper workout too!

And the best bit? They absolutely LOVE it! 🫧🚗

Wishing ALL of our beautiful children the very best of luck on their new adventures this week! 🥹 Whether you’re starting nursery, heading off to school, entering a brand new school year… OR EVEN STARTING HIGH SCHOOL?! WHAT?! 😭🥺

It’s officially time to start getting excited for another jam-packed term at The Flower Cottage🥹🍁

You should now have received your Autumn Term Newsletter, which contains everything you need to know from September right through to December, including our trips, special events, closure dates, important information, upcoming plans and more 🗓️✨

I’ve also included a breakdown of your child’s funding hours owed for this term, taking into account the upcoming holidays. This will help us start putting together a schedule to make sure your little one receives their full funded entitlement across the term.

📚 A brand-new weekly class with Story Rangers! We’re so excited to be starting our new class out at Story Rangers with the lovely Jo! After having such a wonderful time during our recent session, we absolutely cannot wait to attend regularly!☺️💚

I am so excited to finally share that The Flower Cottage has officially launched a brand-new uniform collection in collaboration with Faye Ella Be!😍

Over the last few months, Faye and I have been working closely together to bring my vision for The Flower Cottage uniform to life, and I honestly couldn’t be happier with how it has all come together.

Faye has taken all of my ideas, little details and the vision I had for our setting and turned them into the most beautiful Flower Cottage uniform look book, created especially for us. She has worked incredible hard on this over the last few months🤎

And when I say I’m not the easiest customer… 😂🙈 I really mean it! I had a very specific vision in mind, but Faye has been absolutely incredible throughout the whole process and has completely nailed it. 😍

Our weekly round up 🖍️🧁🤍

And just like that… our final, busy week of the summer holidays is over. 🥺☀️

Week 6 has been filled with all the little things that make our days so special, mark making, endless cuddles with our friends, a beautiful sunny trip to the park, delicious balanced meals and finding creative ways to get those veggies in! 🥦 😆

We’ve baked cakes, enjoyed an exciting Story Rangers session, received the sweetest goodbye gifts from our friends, and visited our care home to say a heartfelt thank you. 🧁📚🌸

We’ve slowly said goodbye to summer and begun welcoming autumn and September, with all the excitement (and emotions!) that a new season brings. 🍂 And, we said a final farewell to our biggest girls as they prepare to fly the nest. 🥺

There have been so many little moments this week that we’ll carry with us, but the cards, gifts and beautiful words from our families have truly left us speechless. 🤍

Every year we are blown away by the kindness and love shown to us, but this year feels especially emotional. To have families put into words what their time with us has meant to them is something we will never take for granted. The words stay with us, they mean more than people probably realise, and they remind us exactly why we do what we do.

Our aim has always been to create a childhood that feels safe, slow, joyful and full of connection, a home-from-home where children can simply be themselves, feel deeply loved and make memories that they’ll carry with them long after they leave us. 🤍

And when we read the feedback from our families and realise that this is exactly what they feel their children have experienced here… honestly, there are no words. 🥺

Another summer complete, another little piece of our hearts leaving the cottage, and another year of memories we will treasure forever. 🌸

Thank you, as always, for trusting us with your most precious little people. We really do feel incredibly lucky. 🤍

My girls… where on earth has the time gone?🥺 Your final day has simply flown by, and although I knew this day would come, nothing quite prepares you for having to say goodbye.😭🩷

Little K… one whole year, yet somehow you have left the biggest print on my heart.🤍 You are one of those very special little people I know I will remember forever. You have the most enormous heart, the kindest soul and the biggest, most beautiful smiles. Your excitement for life is infectious, and watching you find joy in the smallest things has been such a privilege.

You have such a beautiful way of making everyone around you feel happy, included and valued. Your kindness comes so naturally, and you are always encouraging others and wanting your friends to shine. You have genuinely left such a big mark here, and I hope one day you realise just how special you are. One year may sound like such a short time, but the memories, laughter, adventures and cuddles we have shared will be tucked safely into my memory box forever.🌸🤍

And Little A… FOUR whole years.😭🩷 I remember saying, “Don’t worry, we’ve got ages yet before we have to think about you leaving!” And somehow, here we are.

Four years of watching you grow from the tiniest baby into the beautiful, confident preschooler you are today. I have watched you learn, grow, find your voice, make friendships and become completely and wonderfully yourself. You have grown up here, and The Flower Cottage has been such a special part of your childhood. There are memories with you that I know I will treasure for the rest of my life.🤍

I think that is the hardest part of this job, you give these little people so much of your heart, you watch them grow, become part of their story… and then suddenly you have to let them go and watch them continue their journey without you.😭

One year or four years… you are both incredibly special to me, and you always, always will be. The length of time could never measure the place you hold in my heart. You have both left a little piece of yourselves here, and I feel so incredibly lucky to have been part of your childhood.🩷

I have absolutely no doubt you will both do incredible things in your next journey at school. Go and shine, make memories, make friends and continue being your wonderful selves.🥹

And please remember… once you come part of The Flower Cottage family, you will always remain in The Flower Cottage family. 🌸🤍

Now go and fly, my girls… I’m just going to have a little cry first.😭🩷

Our biggest girls who are leaving took a walk to our local care home this morning to hand over some special gifts. We have been working hard over the last few days to bake and decorate a big batch of yummy cupcakes with the children, along with making a card with beautiful poem inside for the staff and residents to read. 🥹🩷

Our poem to say thank you🌷

Each month we came to visit you,
With little smiles and stories too.
We shared our dancing, our songs and play,
And made some happy memories along the way.

You shared your stories, smiles and care,
And showed us kindness everywhere.
Though young and old, we found a way
To learn from each other every day.
You made us laugh, you made us smile,
And made each visit feel worthwhile.
We’ll treasure all the times we’ve shared,
And all the moments that showed you cared.

Now it’s time for us to say goodbye,
With a little wave and one last try
To say thank you for being there,
For every smile and every care.
We may be growing and moving on,
But the memories we made will carry on.
So here’s a hug, and a big thank you too,
We’ll always remember our visits with you!

Our last day as a 6 🤍

And just like that, our two biggest girls are getting ready to fly the nest this Friday. 🥺

We still have another two days of fun, laughter and making those final memories together, but honestly… how has the time gone so quickly?

Watching them grow, learn, blossom and become the little people they are today has been such a privilege. My heart is definitely not ready to say goodbye. 🤍

So for now, we’ll soak up every last cuddle, giggle and moment together… because two more days just isn’t enough. 🥺🌸
