There are moments in this job that remind you just how much more it is than simply looking after children.

We felt incredibly honoured to be invited to share such a special milestone in one of our Mindies’ family’s lives. It was so much more than simply attending a wedding. We were being invited to be part of a really important moment in the lives of a family who, over the years, have become so much more than just a family we care for.

When you care for a child, you become part of their world. You watch them grow, you get to know their families, and you share in so many of life’s little moments. And somewhere along the way, those families become a part of your family too. ❤️

To then be invited to such a huge family milestone, and to see our Mindie play such a special part in the wedding, was incredibly emotional. Seeing them walk down that aisle was one of those moments that makes you stop and think about just how quickly time passes and how lucky we are to have been part of their journey.

We felt so incredibly proud watching them — not just because of the beautiful role they had in the day, but because we knew the little person we had cared for and loved had grown into the wonderful child standing there in front of us.

Being welcomed into their family’s special moments like this is something we never take for granted. We will cherish this memory for a very long time. 🥹❤️

It’s moments like these that remind us that childminding really is about so much more than childcare. It’s about relationships, trust, memories and becoming part of each other’s lives.

We are so grateful to have been included in such a beautiful day and so proud to have watched our Mindie be such a special part of it.

This is why we do what we do. ❤️

Our final week of summer! 🌞 though the rain has definitely made an entrance!

What a lovely final week we’ve had before we welcome everyone back for the new autumn term!

We’ve been making the most of our smaller numbers and getting out and about — from feeding the animals at Pets at Home, enjoying lots of fun at soft play, to getting creative with mark making, crafts and plenty of exploring.

It’s also been a very special (and slightly emotional) week as we prepare to say goodbye to three of our little ones who are heading off to big school! We are SO excited for them as they begin this next chapter, but we’re going to miss them more than they know. Watching them grow, learn and become the little people they are today has been such a privilege.

Now it’s time to get ready for an exciting autumn term! We have lots of lovely things planned for the rest of the year, and we absolutely cannot wait to welcome our new little ones and their families to our setting. We have been flooring and I may have gone slightly overboard with new resources! 😅

Here’s to new adventures, new friendships, lots of learning through play and making plenty more special memories together!

🌿 A little bit about me…

Hi, I’m Alex! 👋🏾 I’m a mum, an ex school teacher and now a childminder, creating a warm, fun and nurturing home-from-home for little ones.

After years of teaching, I decided it was time for a change and to build a lifestyle that gives me more time with my own family while doing something I genuinely love — helping children learn, explore and grow. ❤️

Outside of childminding, I’m a big lover of nature, travelling and exploring new places. I love being outdoors, discovering new adventures and making memories with my extended family.

I’m also a big believer that children learn best when they’re happy, curious and given the freedom to explore. So expect lots of outdoor adventures, messy play, creativity, stories, baking and plenty of opportunities to learn through play! 🎨

I’m looking forward to getting to know all of the families who become part of our little childminding family.

Nothing beats a summer's day spent outdoors! ☀️🦆

Today we enjoyed a lovely trip to the lake with the children, relaxing with a picnic, watching the ducks, and seeing all the exciting watersports. There were plenty of smiles, fresh air, and opportunities to explore and chat about everything we spotted along the way.

Days like these are what summer is all about—making memories, learning through nature, and simply enjoying being together. 💚🌿

What a fantastic day out at Sedgley Adventure Centre! 🌾🐑🐐

The children had so much fun exploring the centre, meeting the animals, enjoying the fresh air, and making lots of wonderful memories together. There were so many smiles, giggles, and exciting discoveries throughout the day!

A huge thank you to Sedgley Adventure Centre for such a lovely visit and for giving the children such a memorable experience. We can't wait to come back! 💚

Cooking activities are about so much more than making tasty treats. As children mash, stir, measure and mix, they're developing fine motor skills, building confidence, learning early maths, expanding their vocabulary, and practising patience while waiting for their bake to be ready.

And, of course, they get to enjoy a warm, homemade snack they've made themselves. 😋

Learning through play, creating memories, and encouraging healthy food choices every day.

🌳☀️ We started our day with a cool, shady walk through the forest, listening to the birds, spotting nature's treasures and enjoying the fresh air before the temperatures really heated up!

Then it was time for some summer fun:
💦 Water play and paddling pools
🫧 Bubbles galore
🍦 Ice lollies to keep us cool
🏖️ Building sandcastles
🧪 Creating colourful potions
⚓ Exploring what floats and what sinks

Swimming costumes on, with sun hats, sunscreen and sunglasses because we have to look cool too! 😎

After a busy morning, we enjoyed a well-deserved nap before practising our soft fruit chopping skills for snack time, carefully preparing strawberries 🍓 and bananas 🍌 (which we used in our cake yummy!).

A beautiful day full of sunshine, learning, laughter and making precious summer memories together. ☀️❤️
