Mummy, Mummy, look at me,
I made this just for you, you see.

With tiny hands and lots of love,
You're my angel from above.

You give me cuddles every day,
You laugh with me and help me play.

I love you more than words can say,
Happy Mother's Day today!

It's Friday!

The children had so much fun exploring the colourful interlocking gears, carefully connecting the pieces and watching how their movements made everything spin! They worked together, taking turns and helping each other, which supported their social skills and teamwork.

This lovely hands-on activity developed their fine motor control and hand-eye coordination as they pushed, turned and lined up the cogs. It also encouraged early maths and problem-solving skills as they noticed patterns, colours and cause-and-effect – discovering that when one gear moves, the others follow!

A wonderful way to learn through play, curiosity and collaboration.

Our little artists enjoyed a lovely Valentine’s craft activity, carefully gluing tiny pink and red pieces to create beautiful hearts full of love 💗

The children confidently used glue sticks to stick each piece down, showing great control and developing their fine motor skills and hand strength.

We talked about the word “LOVE” on the page, encouraging early literacy skills and letter recognition. We also counted the pieces together as they added them, supporting early maths skills such as counting and understanding quantity.

Through this activity, the children explored colours, shapes and textures, helping their understanding of the world while expressing their creativity. It was a calm, focused and meaningful activity that supported patience, independence and pride in their work. Such a sweet way to celebrate kindness and love 💕

This is such a beautiful, natural learning moment 🤍
The children are exploring mark-making and early maths outdoors, using chalk on a vertical surface. I love how engaged they are — standing closely together, watching each other, copying shapes and experimenting with lines.

From a learning perspective this activity supports:
✨ Mathematics – recognising and drawing shapes (triangle, square), early spatial awareness
✨ Physical Development – strengthening shoulder, arm and wrist muscles through vertical mark-making (great for early writing skills)
✨ Communication & Language – talking about shapes, lines, big/small, straight/curved
✨ PSED – turn taking, sharing space, learning alongside peers
✨ Expressive Arts & Design – creative mark exploration and self-expression

Using a vertical board is especially powerful — it builds core strength and supports correct wrist positioning for future pencil control.
It’s also such a lovely example of child-led learning. I’ve simply provided the space and materials, and they’ve created the learning themselves 💛

Caring for Our Baby Doll 🤍

The children loved looking after the baby doll today – feeding it, changing it and gently rocking it to sleep. They showed lots of care and kindness, making quiet soothing noises to stop the doll from “crying” and happy sounds when it was “giggling”. There were lots of smiles, giggles, kisses, cuddles and lovely role-play moments as they really enjoyed being little carers.

Benefits of Baby Doll Play 🌱
* Personal, Social & Emotional Development: Builds empathy, care and kindness as children nurture and comfort the doll.
* Communication & Language: Encourages talking, making soothing sounds and using early role-play language.
* Physical Development: Develops fine motor skills through feeding, holding, dressing and rocking the doll.
* Understanding the World: Helps children make sense of real-life routines such as caring for a baby.
* Expressive Arts & Design: Supports imaginative play as children act out familiar experiences and emotions.
