As families prepare for the new school year starting tomorrow, we would like to advise you of some updates around the school site that have been actioned following parent and pupil feedback last year. Over the summer, new signage and road markings (including additional double yellow lines) have been installed around school, making the restrictions much clearer and supporting the relevant authorities in enforcing the rules of the road.
Please do not stop or park on the yellow entrance markings or double yellow lines around school, block access points or park in a way that makes it difficult for children to see or be seen when crossing the road.
In the morning only, parents can use the turning circle/bus bay to drop
off their children, who can then walk along the path to the front gate into school.
Parents should not leave cars parked here as school buses are regularly using the area.
We do discourage our children from crossing the road at the top of the service area and we also ask parents to avoid dropping children off at the point of this junction too.
The bus bay is not available for collection at 2:55pm as our various school buses need access while waiting to collect some of our children.
At the start and end of the day, parents are advised to use the Leisure Centre overflow car park, where children can either walk to meet you, or you can walk up to the school gates to collect them.
The community police do monitor this situation on a regular basis.
These measures are in place for one reason: to help keep every Westacre pupil safe at the busiest times of the school day. Thank you, as always, for your support and consideration for our children and the wider community.
