Welcome back everyone! The first week is already done and it's like we've never been away. Welcome to our new families who have joined us over the summer and a warm welcome to our new staff members too. Miss Bateman joins us teaching in Class 2 and Mrs Moffat, who is our new Nursery Nurse, joins us in Class 1.

We finished the 2024-2025 academic year with a lovely opportunity for worship and a chance to say our fond farewells to our Year 6 pupils. We know you will continue to shine as your journey takes you into secondary education.

We also had to say our goodbyes to Mrs Trueman and Mrs Brown. They leave us with all of our thanks, lots of fond memories and our endless gratitude for all of their efforts. You will always be a part of the Lockington family.

On July 10th, Class 2 had the opportunity to visit the MKM Stadium for a day. They enjoyed a range of activities and a tour of the stadium too. Thank you to FOLS for covering the cost of the coach and to those who supported the trip. The children and staff had a wonderful time.

What an amazing three days we spent at Caythorpe Court on our residential visit this year. We scaled the trapeze and the climbing wall, learnt how to work as a team on physical problem solving and boogied at the disco. The sun shone as we built rafts, fell in and splashed around. Orienteering took us all around the site after learning about map reading and compass points. There was a hilarious game of archery tag and some exciting bush tucker skills to learn. The giant swing took everyone’s breath away!

It was wonderful to hear from Leo, our PGL team leader, that all the instructors had made a point of telling him that the Lockington groups were some of the best they had ever worked with. Some very proud (and slightly tired!) adults enjoyed spending time with these wonderful youngsters.

Last week we held our annual sports afternoon and the weather was definitely in our favour. Thank you to FOLS for the welcomed refreshments on such a warm day. The children had a lovely afternoon taking part in team games and races. Well done to the 'Owls' who took the trophy for this year. Thank to our families for their support, we hope you enjoyed your afternoon too.

Today Class 2 have travelled back in time to 1940's. We have some fabulously dressed WWII evacuees and a couple of land girls helping out.

We have the wonderful Louise from One Day Creative holding workshops for the children too. Thank you to FOLS for funding this workshop for our pupils and to all parents/carers who have kindly helped with costumes from home.

We've rolled straight into the last half of the summer term like we've never been away! We have lots planned including our sports afternoon, which is next Thursday 19th June at 1.30pm.
