We have one last announcement to end 2022,
Something thats almost too good to be true. π€
30 months ago we were merely beginners,
Yet now here we are as DOUBLE AWARD WINNERS! π
We've done it again, we are "Nursery of the Year",
In the Yorkshire Prestige Awards so give us a cheer. π₯
We couldn't attend the awards ceremony this time around,
As Anna was taking Sian and Shannon to training out of town! π
But still we think this deserves recognition,
It's all thanks to our families, the staff and their ambition. π¦ΉββοΈ
Thank you for your support, we will be back in a fortnight,
Merry Christmas to all and to all a goodnight.

Carols Around the Campfire π₯πΆ
Last week, we invited all our Globetrotting families to our first "Carols Around the Campfire" down at WAH Wild Woods. πͺ΅π³
We toasted marshmallows, lit sparklers, drank hot chocolate or mulled wine, ate mince pies and biscuits, hung hand made bird feeders and most importantly sang like no one could hear us... because they couldn't!! π€π₯πΆπ₯§
It was a cold evening, it even snowed but it was absolutely beautiful. βοΈπ€π¨
Thank you to everyone who came and made these special memories. May it be the first of many more to come. ππ

Poppy Appeal in Driffield raises a record amount of nearly Β£20,000 - The Wolds Weekly Newspaper
Well doesn't this show what a difference can be made when a lot of people do something little! π· ππ»π
Thank you Driffield & Wolds Weekly for highlighting our fundraising efforts. β€π What a proud moment to read that over 10% of the grand total was raised by little old us, with only Tesco pipping us to top spot! ππ»
Our fundraising page now stands at over Β£2600 and John from Driffield Branch, The Royal British Legion is becoming a regular visitor to WAH to collect all the pennies that are kindly still rolling in! THANK YOU to every family or staff member who has donated! π We couldn't have done it with you.

It may be chilly but so much discovery and new language came from today's frozen outing! π§π§£π§€

Sian and Shannon are back from an icy couple of days in North Yorkshire! βοΈπͺ΅π§ They are 6 months into their Forest School Leadership training and this week passed assessment for knots, tools and camp fire cooking. π₯π πͺ’Well done ladies! π

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas...β€π΅π€ Here are our Park Ranger elves just taking a little rest, reflecting on all their tree decorating efforts! π
Only 15 more nursery days welcoming very excited small people who have eaten chocolate for breakfast... ππ«π

Today we waved a "see you later" to our lovely Lisa who is off to have her own little Globetrotter! πππ»π The staff parents and children are going to miss you so much Lisa, but we wish you all the very best for your special Christmas present due for delivery on the 25th December! ππ« π

π They couldn't go over it. They couldn't go under it. They could have gone around it, but what's the fun in that?!
They just HAD to go.... π€

Just hanging around this Autumn... π€π
We have three different tree swings down at Wild Woods π³ and without doubt, the hardest yet the most popular is the trapeze π€ΈββοΈ which hangs over a dry ditch bank. πͺπΌYet our Globetrotters of all ages are always drawn to the challenge! And WOW, do they suprise us with their physical ability, bravery and upper body strength! π€©ππ»
Not quite sure the same can be said for the staffs attempts...! π€π

β€οΈ We are very proud that on the morning of 11/11/22, Anna with the help of her family, friends and businesses has officially raised over Β£2000 for the Royal British Legion. β€οΈ
Started 6 months as a cause close to her heart, the target has already been doubled and has now been smashed! π THANK YOU SO MUCHπ
Our fundraising continues for the remainder of this month but forever more 'We Will Remember Them'. π₯
Royal British Legion

We are working hard to raise funds for the Royal British Legion throughout November. β€ So this week, Globetrotters of all ages have been helping practitioner Sophie bake shortbread, roll icing and decorate big poppy biscuits. All then individually wrapped and on sale for 50p each. Thank you everyone, what a fabulous team effort π₯°

Because every childhood deserves an epic den... π
Our Forest school site is looking SUPERB at the moment ππͺ΅ Would you like us to give you a virtual tour?? π₯
When autumn gives you leaves.... pimp your den!
This den is so toasty now with a huge blanket of leaves....perfect for story time! 14 bags of leaves collected from the gardens and recycled into the forest school.

Wishing you all a ROARsome Halloween! π§‘π¦

Rain π§βοΈ Always an opportunity and never an obstacle here at WAH π£π¦ We live in the moment and allow that moment to be what it is; magical and fun in everyway. ππ»π

Tame birds sing a song of freedom, while wild birds fly.. π

Earlier this year after losing her Dad, owner Anna began raising funds for the Royal British Legion and of course WAH have only been too kind to join the cause. β€
Firstly, office manager Sarah only went and smashed the Yorkshire Coast 10k yesterday following some kind sponsorship. πββοΈ So a super special shout out and thank you goes to her today! ππ»
π’ We are busy preparing for a numerous fundraising events, throughout what we are calling "Never Forget November" and there a several ways you could help us! π If you could donate any thing to our handmade sale, jar tombola or auction evening please do get in touch! π
Thank you in advance and we look forward to keeping you updated with our fundraising efforts.πΉ

And here are some of our preschoolers developing the vital future skill of "working from home".. πππ©βπ»

We've had a little staffing shuffle this week! π¦ΉββοΈ
Every few months, when annual leave and illness allow, we have a week where the staff work in a different room to normal. π It is so nice for staff to see where the children come up from or to see how they have flourished with age. They experience different routines and expectations, team members and get to know new children. It has also been wonderful to see staff take their passion with them - Joanne took her wonderful playdough boxes into preschool and here are photos from Sian's trip down to Forest school with some of babies! ππͺ΅π³
Thank you again to the staff who work so hard and happily across the entire of WAH, really making it a super special family. π

β€οΈ π To act with kindness is never a random act; neither is it unintentional. Kindness always flows from self awareness and empathy of others. π π§‘
Kindness. We sprinkle that stuff like confetti... π π

π For a nursery owner who spent one of her best summers volunteering in orphanages, schools and slum centres in Eastern Thailand, the headlines make hard reading tonight.
No child deserves to die and never in these circumstances. No parents should ever wave their child off to play and never get them back. Regardless of race, wealth or religion, it remains 'wrong' and 'unlikely' but it has happened. So let's hug our little ones for a while longer tonight and let Thailand know that we are thinking of them. ππΉπ
.

"Our care of the child should be governed, not by the desire to make him learn things, but by the endeavour always to keep burning within him that light which is called intelligence." π‘

Wowzers. Where to even begin π€― It was our final staff training day of the year today and SO much was covered! π€ Discussing policies, learning about the procedures surrounding special educational needs and disabilities, 8 staff members passed paediatric first aid training with flying colours, π©ββοΈ 11 staff were hands on at Wild Woods with an introduction to Forest School training. π We discussed the importance of language: written, verbal and signing ππ» ending with high aspirations around our mealtimes and charity fundraising month! π½πΉOur 2 visiting trainers were very kindly FULL of amazing praise for our nursery, atmosphere and the staffs abilities. π¦ΉββοΈ
So here's one simple picture from today, a reflection and summary and fact, that for the WAH team, the sky really is the limit... π

Feeling the heartbeat of the Earth, with every step taken..π£π Little Wren Services Ltd
Gardener Jess has created the most incredible sensory path for us! π©βπΎ Sinking safe items of various materials and textures for the children to feel, stretch, arch, tip toe and balance over π¦Άπ»π
It even includes carpet thyme, making it an experience for the nose too! πΏππΌ

π£π BRAND NEW JOB ALERT! πππ»
We are very excited to be opening our recruitment doors for the first time in over 12 months for this brand new role. π You will of course be entitled to all the wonderful perks of WAH employment but most importantly this is your chance to become part of a very special family of maroon superheroes π¦ΉββοΈ
Please share to help us find the perfect person or email now for further information or job application pack. π§π
Let's start creating the future.ππ»π

If children want the challenge of difficult tasks, why stop them? π
π»ββοΈ Hammering nails, swinging over ditches and whittling sticks..π¨πͺ΅ These sorts of activities are becoming increasingly normal for our ever so clever Globetrotters! ππͺπΌ

Your legacy will forever live on through us. ππ»π
RIP Queen Elizabeth II π

Meet Rupert Bear. πβ€ A regular sight around WAH, more so now he is embracing retired life! π Being spoilt, tickled, occasionally poked and prodded is quite orite with him. 𦴠He walks slowly when a small hand has his lead and it quite frankly suits him when a tiny arm doesn't throw his ball very far! π₯
Rupert is fully risk assessed and helps us to teach the children about caring for animals, compassion, the importance of exercise and washing our hands. πAnimals are fabulous for well-being, even some of the staff members take him for a walk on their lunch break. π³β
οΈ
So do swing by the office to say hi or bye to this special 4 legged member of the WAH family! π§‘

"The world is BIG. And we want to have a good look at it, before it gets dark"... πππ€

This week we wave our final goodbyes to the remaining "school leavers"ππ
It brings us so much pride seeing how capable our Globetrotters become and how ready they are to embrace their school lives. πͺπΌπ« Nursery isn't just childcare. It's a foundation of critical building blocks as well as an imprint on their little hearts. π
Watching any of our Globetrotters fly the Nest is hard because it isn't just them we lose. We lose their wonderful parents, care givers and family members too! π’ The familiar faces, smiles and daily chit chat. The love and the support; the family we all become. π
Good luck leavers! π Remain brave π¦ stay unique π¦ keep being kind π and always be Wild at Heart! ππ»π
πΈ We'd love to celebrate your school leaver so post your favourite nursery photo below! β¬οΈ

Making the most of our decor still - Beachcomber Babies ventured to Wild Woods for story and song time in the beautiful bell tent today! πͺ π

WAH Fest 2022
πππWHAT A PHENOMENAL MORNING!!! πππ
! πͺπ³ A super special festival down at our "Wild Woods" especially for our school leavers and their grownups, to thank them for all the fun times and memories. ππ»π
π₯ Camp fire smores, graduation photos, stick photo frames, singing, glitter, tattoos, pin the wings on the fairy, plenty of swinging around and a beautiful bell tent provided by Moon on a stick Events π
Thank you to the staff who volunteered to be there today and made it happen. πͺ We hope these Globetrotters remember WAH and the role we had sending them on their way! ππ¦π¦π

Over the last week, many of our Globetrotters have been introduced to wild brambles! π
They learnt the importance of putting on gardening gloves to protect themselves from the prickles before using their fine motor skills to pick off the ripe blackberries. π« --->βͺοΈ
Here are our youngest children (even non walkers taken in the trailer) meandering down bramble path en route to our very special "Wild Woods" site. πͺ΅π³
--->βͺοΈMany delicious berries were harmed through consumption by small people resulting in pink hands and faces all round! ππ«π€
